Abstract

Embodiments relate to systems and methods for establishing upload channels to a cloud data distribution (CDD) service. In particular, an administrator of a user network can desire to migrate data to a cloud-based network via the CDD service. The administrator can provide specifications for transferring the data to the CDD service via a connection between the CDD service and the user network. The CDD service can generate a set of options for transferring the data based on the specifications and a specification of the connection. The set of options can be provided to the administrator, the administrator can select one of the options, and the transfer of the data can be initiated according to the selected option.

Claims

1. A method of providing recommendations for a cloud data distribution service, the method comprising:

receiving a specification of a user for transferring data to a cloud data distribution (CDD) site;

identifying component data associated with a connection between a storage resource of the user and the cloud data distribution (CDD) site; and

determining, based on the component data and the specification of the user, a set of options for transferring the data from the storage resource of the user to the cloud data distribution (CDD) site via the connection.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing the set of options to the user.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a selection of an option of the set of options by the user; and

initiating, in response to receiving the selection and in accordance with the option, a transfer of the data from the storage resource of the user to the cloud data distribution (CDD) site via the connection.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

providing, to the user, a status of the transfer of the data.

5. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

receiving the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site from the storage resource of the user; and

transferring the data from the cloud data distribution (CDD) site to a cloud-based network.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the cloud data distribution (CDD) site is in proximity to the cloud-based network.

7. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

receiving the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site from the storage resource of the user; and

storing the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the specification comprises at least one of an amount of data to be transferred, a time frame to transfer the data, a price maximum, or a maximum amount of time to transfer the data.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of options comprises at least one of a needed component of the connection, a transfer time, a time frame, or a cost.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, based on the component data and the specification of the user, a set of additional options for transferring the data from the storage resource of the user to the CDD resource via the connection; and

providing the set of additional options to the user.

11. A system for providing recommendations for a cloud data distribution service, the system comprising:

an interface to a cloud data distribution (CDD) site; and

a processor, communicating with the cloud data distribution (CDD) site via the interface, the processor configured to perform operations comprising;

receiving a specification of a user for transferring data to the cloud data distribution (ODD) site;

identifying component data associated with a connection between a storage resource of the user and the cloud data distribution (CDD) site; and

determining, based on the component data and the specification of the user, a set of options for transferring the data from the storage resource of the user to the cloud data distribution (CDD) site via the connection.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

providing the set of options to the user.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving a selection of an option of the set of options by the user; and

initiating, in response to receiving the selection and in accordance with the option, a transfer of the data from the storage resource of the user to the cloud data distribution (CDD) site via the connection.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

providing, to the user, a status of the transfer of the data.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site from the storage resource of the user; and

transferring the data from the cloud data distribution (CDD) site to a cloud-based network.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the cloud data distribution (CDD) site is in proximity to the cloud-based network.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site from the storage resource of the user; and

storing the data at the cloud data distribution (CDD) site.

18. The system of claim 11, wherein the specification comprises at least one of an amount of data to be transferred, a time frame to transfer the data, a price maximum, or a maximum amount of time to transfer the data.

19. The system of claim 11, wherein the set of options comprises at least one of a needed component of the connection, a transfer time, a time frame, or a cost.

20. The system of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to perform operations comprising:

determining, based on the component data and the specification of the user, a set of additional options for transferring the data from the storage resource of the user to the CDD resource via the connection; and

providing the set of additional options to the user.
