Abstract

A monitoring device including: a receiving unit configured to receive a malfunction notice of a data processing device, the data processing device being connected to the monitoring device which monitors running condition through a network; a malfunction device identification unit configured to identify a data processing device that is malfunctioning based on the received malfunction notice; a data obtaining unit configured to obtain running data and device data of the data processing device that is malfunctioning and an another data processing device; and a malfunction cause identification unit configured to identify a cause of the malfunction, based on the obtained running data and the obtained device data.

Claims

1. A monitoring device comprising:

a receiving unit configured to receive a malfunction notice of a data processing device, the data processing device being connected to the monitoring device which monitors running condition through a network;

a malfunction device identification unit configured to identify a data processing device that is malfunctioning based on the received malfunction notice;

a data obtaining unit configured to obtain running data and device data of the data processing device that is malfunctioning and an another data processing device; and

a malfunction cause identification unit configured to identify a cause of the malfunction, based on the obtained running data and the obtained device data.

2. The monitoring device according to claim 1, further comprising:

a software obtaining unit configured to obtain software from a software managing server; and

a software update unit configured to search, in case that the identified malfunction can be solved by a software update, for a software version having solved the identified malfunction and been registered in the software managing server, and instruct the malfunctioning data processing device to update the software in case that a software version solving the identified malfunction is registered in the software managing server.

3. The monitoring device according to claim 2, wherein:

the software update unit searches for a data processing device which works by using the same software as the software of the malfunctioning data processing device on the basis of the device data; and

the software update unit instructs the data processing device having been found out by the searching to update the software.

4. The monitoring device according to claim 1, further comprising:

a searching unit configured to search for the data processing device having the same running condition as the running condition of the malfunctioning device; and

a notifying unit configured to notify a result searched by the searching unit to a particular data processing device.

5. A monitoring system having a storage device in which data is stored, the monitoring system comprising:

a switch configured to relay a plurality of various requests to the storage device; and

a monitoring server device configured to monitor running circumstances of the switch or the storage device;

the switch comprising;

a transmitting unit configured to transmit, upon detecting a malfunction on an own device or the storage device, a malfunction notice including details of the detected malfunction to the monitoring server device;

the monitoring server device comprising;

a receiving unit configured to receive a malfunction notice of the switch or the storage device;

a malfunction device identification unit configured to identify the switch or the storage device under malfunctioning based on the received malfunction notice;

a data obtaining unit configured to obtain running data and device data of the switch or the storage device under malfunctioning, and obtain running data and device data of the switch or the storage device free from the malfunction; and

a malfunction cause identification unit configured to identify a cause of the malfunction, based on the running data and the device data obtained by the data obtaining unit.

6. A monitoring method for being performed by a computer which monitors running condition of a data processing device connected through a network, the monitoring method comprising:

receiving a malfunction notice of a data processing device;

identifying a data processing device that is malfunctioning based on the received malfunction notice;

obtaining running data and device data of the data processing device that is malfunctioning and an another data processing device; and

identifying a cause of the malfunction, based on the obtained running data and the obtained device data.

7. A monitoring device that is connected to a data processing device and monitors running condition through a network, the monitoring device comprising:

a processor configured to execute a procedure, the procedure comprising;

receiving a malfunction notice of a data processing device;

identifying a data processing device that is malfunctioning based on the received malfunction notice;

obtaining running data and device data of the data processing device that is malfunctioning and an another data processing device; and

identifying a cause of the malfunction, based on the obtained running data and the obtained device data.
