Abstract

A method and a system for providing location and profile based system and services. A system may includes a plurality of data sources disposed within a network for providing location and identity information associated with objects disposed within the network and a concentrator bridge, operatively coupled to the plurality of data sources, the concentrator bridge including a receiver associated with each of the plurality of data sources, wherein the concentrator bridge receives location and profile data associated with the objects from the plurality of data sources and provides the identity and location of the objects disposed within the network for viewing on a user interface.

Claims

1. A system for providing location and profile based services, comprising:

a plurality of data sources disposed within a network for providing location and identity information associated with objects disposed within the network; and

a concentrator bridge, operatively coupled to the plurality of data sources, the concentrator bridge including a receiver associated with each of the plurality of data sources, wherein the concentrator bridge receives location and profile data associated with the objects from the plurality of data sources and provides the identity and location of the objects disposed within the network for viewing on a user interface.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the identity and location of the objects disposed within the network is determined by the concentrator bridge.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the identity and location of the objects disposed within the network is determined by a backend system and provided to the concentrator bridge for routing to a device having a user interface for viewing the location and identity information.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the backend system includes an identity management system.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the identity management system includes a database for storing the profiles and attributes associated with a core identity of a user.

6. The system of claim 4, wherein the identity management system searches databases outside the backend system for additional types of information associated with objects disposed within the network, the identity management system aggregating information associated with the object and developing a unified representation of the object.

7. The system of claim 3, wherein the databases outside the backend system includes Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

8. The system of claim 3, wherein the identity management system provides a registration process to associate a core identity with a device of a registered user.

9. The system of claim 3, wherein the backend system includes a super concentrator for aggregating identity and location information.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the super aggregator extrapolates preferences and profile information into a larger database of extended profile information obtain from third party identity systems.

11. The system of claim 3, wherein the backend system includes a concentrator network and identity management system, wherein the concentrator network is configured to communicate with the identity management system to collect data obtained by the identity management system from various identity service providers over the Internet.

The system of claim 1, wherein the concentrator bridge comprises a plurality of receivers for servicing the plurality of data sources, wherein the plurality of receivers includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a Femto GPS receiver, a low-power GPS satellite emulator, standard GPS receiver, a Bluetooth receiver, a Wi-Fi receiver, a WiMAX receiver, and a home networking receiver.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the concentrator bridge aggregates and combines the signals received from the plurality of receivers and determines the specific location of a user using at least one location determining algorithm

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the concentrator bridge determines the specific location of a user using at least one location determining algorithm

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the at least one location determining algorithm includes successive approximation and triangulation.

16. The system of claim 1, wherein the location and identity information is associated with registered objects within the range of the network.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the registered objects are registered users.

18. The system of claim 16, wherein the registered objects are non-human objects.

19. The system of claim 1, wherein the user interface comprises a personal device having a display for viewing a map of entities associated with the identity and location provided by the concentrator bridge.

20. A personal device for utilizing location and profile based services, comprising:

memory for storing data; and

a processor, coupled to the memory, for receiving identification and location information from a concentrator bridge and displaying the received identification and location information.

21. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the memory maintains profile information associated with a registered user.

22. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the user includes a core identity provided by a system provider, the core identity including a set of preferences/profiles and attributes maintained by the memory.

23. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the processor provides a map user interface to display a location of objects.

24. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the processor receives a user selection of an object displayed on the device display and determines the identity and profile associated with an entity represented on the display.

25. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the processor provides a zoom function to allow the user to zoom in closer using the map user interface to provide detailed information concerning an entity represented on the display.

26. The personal device of claim 25, wherein the detailed information includes a names, profile information and location parameters of the entity.

27. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the personal device comprises one selected from the group consisting of a smart phone and a portable computing device.

28. The personal device of claim 20, wherein the processor is further configured to provide an air interface to expose location of the device to the concentrator bridge.

29. A method for providing location and profile services, comprising:

registering an object with a communication service provider;

providing the registered object with a core identity;

maintaining a database of registered objects;

receiving location and profile information associated with registered objects disposed within a network of the communication service provider;

processing the received location and profile information to determine a location, identity and profile for registered objects; and

providing the determined location, identity and profile for registered objects to a user; and

displaying the determined location, identity and profile for registered objects on a map to enable the user to locate a desired object within the network.

30. A computer readable medium including executable instructions which, when executed by a processor, provides location and profile services, by:

registering an object with a communication service provider;

providing the registered object with a core identity;

maintaining a database of registered objects;

receiving location and profile information associated with registered objects disposed within a network of the communication service provider;

processing the received location and profile information to determine a location, identity and profile for registered objects; and

providing the determined location, identity and profile for registered objects to a user; and

displaying the determined location, identity and profile for registered objects on a map to enable the user to locate a desired object within the network.
