Abstract

A content receiver provides content received from a content provider. While providing such content, the content receiver determines to provide a financial portal. The content receiver ascertains context-specific information to include in the financial portal based on the content. Then, the content receiver transmits a combination of the financial portal and the content to a display device. The financial portal may include various menus and/or interfaces that enable performance activities related to financial products and/or financial and/or brokerage accounts. In ascertaining information, the content receiver may evaluate the content to determine information to include, such as by analyzing metadata that corresponds to the content and/or performing content recognition analysis on the content. The content receiver may determine to provide the financial portal in response to user input and/or in response to the occurrence of an event corresponding to an automatic and/or user defined trigger.

Claims

1. A method for providing a content-related financial portal, the method comprising:

determining, utilizing at least one content receiver, to provide at least one financial portal that is related to at least one instance of content;

ascertaining, utilizing the at least one content receiver, context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content; and

transmitting a combination of the at least one financial portal and the at least one instance of content from the at least one content receiver to the at least one display device wherein the at least one financial portal includes the context-specific information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of ascertaining, utilizing the at least one content receiver, context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content further comprises:

identifying at least one financial product related to the at least one instance of content; and

including in the at least one financial portal at least one of data regarding the at least one financial product or at least one interface to trade the at least one financial product in the at least one financial portal.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the at least one financial product is related to the at least one instance of content because at least one reference to the at least one financial product is included in the at least one instance of content.

4. The method of claim 2, further comprising contacting at least one financial information provider to obtain the data regarding the at least one financial product.

The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of ascertaining, utilizing the at least one content receiver, context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content further comprises analyzing metadata associated with the at least one instance of content.

The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of ascertaining, utilizing the at least one content receiver, context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content further comprises performing at least one of audio recognition upon the at least one instance of content or image recognition upon the at least one instance of content.

The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of determining, utilizing at least one content receiver, to provide at least one financial portal that is related to at least one instance of content further comprises determining to provide the at least one financial portal in response to receiving at least one user input specifying to provide the at least one financial portal.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of determining, utilizing at least one content receiver, to provide at least one financial portal that is related to at least one instance of content further comprises:

analyzing at least one of the at least one instance of content or metadata associated with the at least one instance of content; and

determining that at least one trigger specifying to provide the at least one financial portal is satisfied.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving the at least one trigger from at least one user; and

storing the at least one trigger in at least one non-transitory storage medium of the at least one content receiver.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said operation of transmitting a combination of the at least one financial portal and the at least one instance of content from the at least one content receiver to the at least one display device wherein the at least one financial portal includes the context-specific information further comprises overlaying the at least one financial portal on at least a portion of the at least one instance of content.

11. A content receiver that provides a content-related financial portal, comprising:

at least one input component that receives at least one instance of content from at least one content provider;

at least one output component operable to provide the at least one instance of content to at least one display device; and

at least one processing unit, communicably connected to the at least one input component and the at least one output component, that determines to provide at least one financial portal that is related to the at least one instance of content, ascertain context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content, and transmit a combination of the at least one financial portal and the at least one instance of content to the at least one display device via the at least one output component;

wherein the at least one financial portal includes the context-specific information and the at least one processing unit combines the at least one financial portal with the at least one instance of content by overlaying the at least one financial portal over at least a portion of the at least one instance of content.

The content receiver of claim 11, wherein the at least one processing unit determines to provide the at least one financial portal by analyzing at least one of the at least one instance of content or metadata associated with the at least one instance of content and determining that at least one trigger specifying to provide the at least one financial portal is satisfied.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one processing unit receives the at least one trigger from at least one user via the at least one input component and stores the at least one trigger in at least one non-transitory storage medium that is communicably connected to the at least one processing unit.

The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one processing unit ascertains the context-specific information by identifying at least one financial product related to the at least one instance of content and including in the at least one financial portal at least one of data regarding the at least one financial product or at least one interface to trade the at least one financial product in the at least one financial portal.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the at least one financial product is related to the at least one instance of content because at least one reference to the at least one financial product is included in the at least one instance of content.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the at least one processing unit contacts at least one financial information provider utilizing the at least one output component to obtain the data regarding the at least one financial product.

17. The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one processing unit determines to provide the at least one financial portal in response to receiving at least one user input via the at least one input component that specifies to provide the at least one financial portal.

18. The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one processing unit ascertains the context-specific information by performing at least one of audio recognition upon the at least one instance of content or image recognition upon the at least one instance of content.

19. The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one processing unit ascertains the context-specific information by analyzing metadata associated with the at least one instance of content.

20. A computer program product comprising:

a first set of instructions, stored in at least one non-transitory machine readable medium, executable by at least one processing unit to determine to provide at least one financial portal that is related to at least one instance of content;

a second set of instructions, stored in the at least one non-transitory machine readable medium, executable by the at least one processing unit to ascertain context-specific information to include in the at least one financial portal based on the at least one instance of content; and

a third set of instructions, stored in the at least one non-transitory machine readable medium, executable by the at least one processing unit to transmit a combination of the at least one financial portal and the at least one instance of content to the at least one display device wherein the at least one financial portal includes the context-specific information.
