Abstract

A system for presenting a user'"'"'s financial status captures a user'"'"'s financial, demographic and goal information and calculates the user'"'"'s financial status based upon their goals. The system then translates the user'"'"'s financial status into an analogy that the user is apt to understand better than financial terms. The user is presented with their financial status in terms of the analogy such as a score. One such analogy is a football game, in which the user'"'"'s financial status is translated and portrayed/displayed in terms of a football game, winning (attaining his or her goals) or losing (not doing well at attaining the goals), etc.

Claims

1. A system for presenting financial data, the system comprising:

a computer;

storage operatively interfaced to the computer;

a user profile stored on the storage, the user profile containing user information and user financial data; and

software running on the computer, the software reads the user profile and translates the user information and the user financial data into a financial status;

software running on the computer displays the financial status in a presentation format according to a predetermined analogy, the presentation format being in terms of the predetermined analogy.

2. The system for presenting financial data of claim 1, wherein the user information comprises an age of the user and an age of retirement goal.

3. The system for presenting financial data of claim 1, wherein the user financial data comprises one or more data selected from the list of assets, incomes, debts and expenses.

4. The system for presenting financial data of claim 1, wherein the predetermined analogy is an analogy to a sporting game and the presentation format is in the format of a scoreboard for the sporting game.

5. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the sporting game is a football game and the presentation format includes scores, time-remaining, quarter, down, and possession of the football game.

6. The system for presenting financial data of claim 5, wherein the scores include a score of the user and a score of an opponent;

the score of the user is an estimate of time that the user will be soluble after retirement based on the assets they are predicted to accumulate and the score of the opponent reflects an estimate of time that the user needs to plan for after retirement based on the estimated life expectancy of the user.

7. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the sporting game is a baseball game and the presentation format includes scores, inning, outs, and team at-bat of the baseball game.

8. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the sporting game is a soccer game and the presentation format includes scores, period, minutes, seconds, and possession of the soccer game.

9. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the sporting game is a hockey game and the presentation format includes scores, period, and minutes, seconds and possession of the hockey game.

10. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the sporting game is a basketball game and the presentation format includes scores, quarter, minutes, seconds, and possession of the basketball game.

11. The system for presenting financial data of claim 1, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more elements of the predetermined analogy in a formation map of the predetermined analogy.

12. The system for presenting financial data of claim 4, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more player positions of the analogy to the sporting game in a formation map of the analogy to the sporting game.

13. The system for presenting financial data of claim 5, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more football player positions on a formation map of the football game.

14. A system for presenting financial data, the system comprising:

a computer;

storage operatively interfaced to the computer;

a user profile stored on the storage, the user profile containing user information and user financial data; and

software running on the computer executes a first set of equations, the first set of equations calculates a financial status based upon the user information and user financial data, the software executes a second set of equations, the second set of equations translates the financial status into a presentation view according to a predetermined analogy, the presentation view being in terms of the predetermined analogy, the predetermined analogy being a sports analogy.

15. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the user information comprises an age of the user and an age of retirement goal.

16. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the user financial data comprises one or more data selected from the list of assets, incomes, debts and expenses.

17. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the presentation view is in the format of a scoreboard for the sport.

18. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the sports analogy is football and the presentation view includes scores, time-remaining, quarter, down, and possession of a football game.

19. The system for presenting financial data of claim 18, wherein the scores include a score of the user and a score of an opponent;

the score of the user is an estimate of time that the user will be soluble after retirement based on the assets they are predicted to accumulate and the score of the opponent reflects an estimate of time that the user needs to plan for after retirement based on the estimated life expectancy of the user.

20. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more elements of the sports analogy.

21. The system for presenting financial data of claim 18, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more football player positions on a formation map of the football game.

22. The system for presenting financial data of claim 14, wherein the sports analogy is a baseball game and the presentation format includes scores, inning, outs, and team at-bat of the baseball game.

23. The system for presenting financial data of claim 17, wherein the sports analogy is a soccer game and the presentation format includes scores, period, minutes, seconds, and possession of the soccer game.

24. The system for presenting financial data of claim 17, wherein the sports analogy is a hockey game and the presentation format includes scores, period, and minutes, seconds and possession of the hockey game.

25. The system for presenting financial data of claim 17, wherein the sports analogy is a basketball game and the presentation format includes scores, quarter, minutes, seconds, and possession of the basketball game.

26. A system for presenting financial data, the system comprising:

a computer;

storage operatively interfaced to the computer;

a user profile stored on the storage, the user profile containing user information and user financial data; and

software running on the computer executes a first set of equations, the first set of equations calculates a financial status based upon the user information and user financial data, the software executes a second set of equations, the second set of equations translates the financial status into a presentation view according to a predetermined analogy to a football game, the presentation view being in terms of the football game.

27. The system for presenting financial data of claim 26, wherein the presentation view includes scores, time-remaining, quarter, down, and possession of the football game.

28. The system for presenting financial data of claim 27, wherein the scores include a score of the user and a score of an opponent;

the score of the user is an estimate of time that the user will be soluble after retirement based on the assets they are predicted to accumulate and the score of the opponent reflects an estimate of time that the user needs to plan for after retirement based on the estimated life expectancy of the user.

29. The system for presenting financial data of claim 26, wherein the user financial data comprises a set of assets and the user allocates the assets to one or more football player positions on a formation map of the football game.
