Abstract

Methods and systems for quickly serving documents are provided. Documents may be served to users, for example, in response to search query inputs. Documents may be individually communicated to a document server prior to batching the documents. By individually communicating documents to document servers, the document experiences sub-second latency before it is available to a user. The documents may also be modified individually such that real-time serving is not interrupted.

Claims

1. One or more computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving one or more documents that are available from a document provider, wherein each document is any web document; and

prior to completion of a batching process, serving one of the one or more documents to a user, wherein the batching process groups documents together such that they are served as a group.

2. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, wherein web one or more documents include websites, web pages, and the like.

3. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, wherein documents are served to the user in response to receiving a search query input.

4. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying one or more document keys assigned to the one or more documents by the document provider;

associating the one or more documents with one or more document identifiers; and

mapping the one or more document identifiers to the one or more document keys.

5. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising processing the one or more documents for communication to a document server.

6. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, wherein the one of the one or more documents is served to the user immediately upon receiving the one or more documents from the document provider.

7. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising identifying the one of the one or more documents by searching content of the document provider.

8. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising identifying the one of the one or more documents as a result of the document provider streaming the document.

9. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, wherein the document is communicated to a document server such that only the document server is associated with the document.

10. One or more computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving one or more documents that are available from a document provider, wherein each document is any web document;

assigning each document to a document distributor having a plurality of document servers associated therewith, wherein the plurality of document servers receive documents only from the associated document distributor;

identifying that one of the plurality of document servers is failing;

reassigning the failing document server'"'"'s responsibilities to a replacement document server; and

updating the replacement document server such that it is identical to each document server in the plurality of document servers.

11. The one or more computer storage media of claim 10, wherein each document server of the plurality of document servers associated with the document distributor are identical.

12. The one or more computer storage media of claim 10, wherein web documents include websites, web pages, and the like.

13. The one or more computer storage media of claim 10, wherein the replacement document server is updated and is identical to each document server in the plurality of document servers such that the replacement server is configured to individually serve documents prior to completion of a batching process that groups document together to serve as a group.

14. The one or more computer storage media of claim 13, wherein documents are served to users in response to a search query input.

15. The one or more computer storage media of claim 10, wherein one of the one or more documents is served to the user immediately upon receiving the one or more documents.

16. One or more computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving a document associated with a first document identifier;

associating the document with a second document identifier;

receiving an indication that the document is to be modified, wherein the indication includes the first document identifier;

mapping the first document identifier to the second document identifier associated with the document such that the document is identified;

individually modifying the document;

associating the document'"'"'s second document identifier with an indication that the document is not available to be served to a user;

receiving a search query input from the user; and

filtering the second document identifier from a plurality of identifiers associated with documents that are available to serve to the user.

17. The one or more computer storage media of claim 16, wherein the first document identifier is associated with the document by the document provider.

18. The one or more computer storage media of claim 16, wherein modifying a document includes deleting the document or replacing the document.

19. The one or more computer storage media of claim 18, wherein deleting a document comprises:

associating a replacement document with a third document identifier; and

adding the second document identifier to a list of deleted documents.

20. The one or more computer storage media of claim 16, further comprising serving the document to the user prior to completion of a batching process such that the document is served individually immediately upon receiving the document from the document provider.
