Abstract
Embodiments include methods, apparatus, and systems for cable monitoring. One embodiment includes a method that receives data from an optical transceiver coupled to a cable and a RFID (radio frequency identification) device mounted to the cable. The data from the optical transceiver and RFID device is used to determine an operational status of the cable.

21. A method, comprising:
-
receiving optical and laser data of a first optical transceiver from the first optical transceiver which is coupled to a first end of a fiber optic cable at a first optical communication device; receiving optical and laser data of a second optical transceiver from the second optical transceiver which is coupled to a second end of the fiber optic cable at a second optical communication device; and diagnosing the received data from the first and second optical transceivers to determine an electrical and optical operational status of the fiber optic cable and the first and second optical transceivers. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28)
