Abstract

Provided is a method for doing business, which comprises the steps of providing an indicia reader at a point of transaction (POT), capturing a digital image with the indicia reader at the POT and archiving the digital image.

Claims

1. A method of completing a transaction comprising the steps of:

wirelessly transmitting from an establishment communication device a request to pair with a mobile communication device disposed on a mobile device being transported by a user when the user travels within the communication range of the establishment communication device;

accepting by the user the request to pair;

pairing the establishment communication device utilizing a pairing protocol;

wirelessly transmitting information data from the establishment communication device to the mobile communication device;

displaying on a display disposed on the mobile device the content of the information data;

reading the information data content;

using the information data content when completing the transaction.

2. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the pairing protocol comprises at least one of the following:

Legacy pairing;

Secure Simple pairing;

Numeric comparison;

Passkey Entry; and

Out of band.

3. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the accepting step comprises at least one of the following:

password entry;

code entry;

keystroke entry; and

button entry.

4. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the reading step occurs at a point of transaction.

5. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the reading step comprises utilizing an indicia reader to read information bearing indicia.

6. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, further comprising the step of archiving information regarding the using step.

7. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, further comprising the step of archiving a list of information that was transmitted and read.

8. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on an indicia reader.

9. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 1, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on a wireless indicia reader base.

10. A method of completing a transaction comprising the steps of:

automatically wirelessly pairing an establishment communication device with a mobile communication device disposed on a mobile device being transported by a user when the user travels within the communication range of the establishment communication device;

wirelessly transmitting information data from the establishment communication device to the mobile communication device after pairing;

displaying on a display disposed on the mobile device the content of the information data;

reading the information data content;

using the information data content when completing the transaction.

11. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, wherein the reading step occurs at a point of transaction.

12. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, wherein the reading step comprises utilizing an indicia reader to read information bearing indicia.

13. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, further comprising the step of archiving information regarding the using step.

14. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, further comprising the step of archiving a list of information that was transmitted and read.

15. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on an indicia reader.

16. A method of completing a transaction in accordance with claim 10, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on a wireless indicia reader base.

17. A transaction system comprising:

an establishment communication device configured for wirelessly communicating with a mobile communication device disposed on a mobile device being transported by a user when the user travels within the communication range of the establishment communication device, wherein;

the establishment communication device transmits a request to pair with the mobile communication device;

the user utilizes the mobile device to accept the request to pair;

the establishment communication device wirelessly transmits information data to the mobile communication device;

a display disposed on the mobile device for displaying the content of the information data;

an indicia reader for reading the displayed content; and

,

a computer system for using the read displayed content to complete a transaction.

18. A transaction system in accordance with claim 17, wherein the establishment communication device is located at a point of transaction.

19. A transaction system in accordance with claim 17, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on an indicia reader.

20. A transaction system in accordance with claim 17, wherein the establishment communication device is disposed on a wireless indicia reader base.
