Abstract

A shipping system and method for tracking customer personal information in electronic devices. The shipping system includes a processor for executing a set of instructions and a memory for storing the set of instructions. The instructions are executed by the processor to receive one or more electronic devices for shipping to a destination, determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI, record an identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices, and prevent the shipping system from generating a shipping label to ship the one or more electronic devices in response to determining the CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

Claims

1. A shipping system for tracking customer personal information (CPI) in electronic devices comprising:

a processor for executing a set of instructions; and

a memory for storing the set of instructions, wherein the set of instructions are executed by the processor to;

receive one or more electronic devices for shipping to a destination, determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI, record an identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices, and prevent the shipping system from generating a shipping label to ship the one or more electronic devices in response to determining the CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

2. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein the set of instructions are further operable to:

record the identification and metadata for the one or more electronic devices to a database in response to determining the CPI was included on the one or more electronic devices; and

remove the CPI from the one or more electronic devices.

3. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein the identification and metadata is recorded for the one or more electronic devices to physically and electronically quarantine the one or more electronic devices until the removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified.

4. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein a quarantine record is associated with the identification of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

5. The shipping system according to claim 1, displaying an alert in response to determining the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

6. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein the set of instructions are further executed to:

perform analysis to determine why the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

7. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein the one or more electronic devices are tested simultaneously to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

8. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein an operator is prompted to perform a plurality of steps utilizing the shipping system to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

9. The shipping system according to claim 1, wherein the set of instructions are further executed to:

quaranting the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices

10. A method for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information (CPI), the method comprising:

scanning one or more electronic devices prior to shipping to a destination;

determining whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI in response to the scanning;

recording an identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices; and

preventing the one or more electronic devices from shipping by stopping generation of a shipping label for the one or more electronic devices.

11. The method according to claim 10, further comprising:

recording the identification and metadata for the one or more electronic devices to a database in response to determining the CPI was included on the one or more electronic devices; and

removing the CPI from the one or more electronic devices.

12. The method according to claim 10, wherein the identification and metadata is recorded for the one or more electronic devices to physically and electronically quarantine the one or more electronic devices until the removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified.

13. The method according to claim 10, wherein a quarantine record is associated with the identification of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

14. The method according to claim 10, displaying an alert in response to determining the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

15. The method according to claim 10, further comprising:

performing analysis to determine why the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

16. The method according to claim 10, wherein the one or more electronic devices are tested simultaneously to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

17. The method according to claim 10, wherein an operator is prompted to perform a plurality of steps utilizing the shipping system to determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI.

18. The method according to claim 10, further comprising:

quaranting the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

19. A shipping system for managing shipping of electronic devices with customer personal information (CPI), the system comprising:

a server configured to manage processing of a plurality of electronic devices; and

a plurality of clients configured to communicate with the server, wherein the plurality of clients scan one or more electronic devices for shipping to a destination, determine whether the one or more electronic devices include CPI in response to the scan, record an identification and metadata of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices, and prevent the shipping system from generating a shipping label to ship the one or more electronic devices in response to determining the CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.

The shipping system according to claim 19, wherein the identification and metadata is recorded for the one or more electronic devices to physically and electronically quarantine the one or more electronic devices until the removal of the CPI from the one or more electronic devices is verified, and wherein a quarantine record is associated with the identification of the one or more electronic devices in response to determining CPI is included on the one or more electronic devices.
