Abstract

Disclosed is a display apparatus with an improved structure of its display unit and main body. The display apparatus includes: a display unit which includes a display connector and displays an image; and a main body which includes a power supply unit for supplying power to the display unit, an image processing unit for outputting image signals, and a main body connector which is directly or indirectly connected to the display connector in order to supply the power and the image signals output from the power supply unit and the image processing unit, respectively, to the display unit.

Claims

1. A display apparatus comprising:

a display unit configured to display an image, the display unit comprises a display panel, a front chassis arranged in a front side of the display panel and a rear chassis arranged in a rear side of the display panel;

a base unit for containing an image processing unit which outputs image signals to the display unit, the base unit adapted for installing as a stand base or a wall-mount base; and

a display support having a lower part connectable with the base unit and an upper part connectable with the rear chassis of the display unit to support the display unit when the base unit is installed as the stand base,

wherein the base unit is configured to support the display unit without the display support when the base unit is installed as the wall-mount base.

2. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display panel comprises an organic light emitting diode (OLED) display panel.

3. The display apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the display unit comprises:

a driving board for driving the display panel, the driving board located at a central lower portion of the rear chassis; and

a projecting board cover portion mounted to the rear chassis to cover the driving board.

4. The display apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the driving board comprises a panel driving board having a timing controller for controlling a time difference which occurs when an image signal input from the image processing unit is displayed on the display panel

5. The display apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the base unit is configured to mount directly with the projecting board cover portion when the base unit is installed as the wall-mount base.

6. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least one of the display support and the base unit comprises:

image signal pins for the image signals; and

first power pins and second power pins which are respectively disposed in both sides of the image signal pins disposed between the first and the second power pins to supply power to the display unit.

7. The display apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the display unit comprises a backlight unit comprising a first light source disposed at one side of the display unit and a second light source disposed at another side of the display unit to provide light to the display panel, and

wherein the power is supplied to the first and the second light sources via the first and the second power pins, respectively.

8. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display unit comprises a display connector and the base unit comprises a base unit connector.

The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display unit further comprises a panel driving board which comprises a timing controller which controls a time difference which occurs when the image signals input from the image processing unit are displayed on the display panel and a display connector, and

wherein the display connector is mounted on the panel driving board.

10. The display apparatus according to claim 9, further comprising a rear cover which covers the panel driving board.

11. The display apparatus according to claim 10,

wherein the panel driving board and the rear cover are fastened to a back side of the rear chassis.

12. The display apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the rear cover covers an entire back side of the rear chassis.

13. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display unit further comprises:

a display connector;

a panel driving board which is mounted on a back side of the rear chassis and is mounted thereon with a timing controller which controls a time difference which occurs when the image signals input from the image processing unit are displayed on the display panel, and the display connector; and

a connector board which is mounted on the back side of the rear chassis in such a manner so that the connector board is separated from the panel driving board, and supports the display connector.

14. The display apparatus according to claim 13, further comprising a rear cover which is coupled to the back side of the rear chassis and covers the panel driving board and the connector board.

15. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the base unit further comprises at least one speaker which is disposed in at least one of a front side and lateral sides of the base unit.

16. The display apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a display connector for the display unit;

a base unit connector for the base unit; and

a connection cable which is disposed in the display support and interconnects the display connector and the main body connector.

17. The display apparatus according to claim 16, further comprising a swivel unit which allows the display support to be rotated with respect to the base unit around a longitudinal axial line of the display support.

The display apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the swivel unit comprises a swivel member which is coupled to the display support and is rotated along with the display support, a guide member which is disposed in the base unit and guides a rotation of the swivel member, a swivel bracket which is coupled to the swivel member, with the guide member being disposed between the swivel bracket and the swivel member, and is rotated along with the swivel member, and a sliding member which is disposed between the guide member and the swivel bracket.

19. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the base unit includes a base unit connector that is directly connected to a display connector of the display unit.

20. The display apparatus according to claim 19, wherein the base unit is directly coupled to a back side of the display unit.

21. The display apparatus according to claim 20, wherein a bottom of the base unit is arranged to equal to or lower than a bottom of the display unit.

22. The display apparatus according to claim 19, wherein the display unit further comprises:

a display connector;

a panel driving board which is mounted on a back side of the rear chassis and is mounted thereon with a timing controller which controls a time difference which occurs when the image signals input from the image processing unit are displayed on the display panel, and the display connector;

a rear cover which covers the panel driving board; and

a rear cover accommodating unit which is disposed in the base unit and accommodates the rear cover.

23. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display unit further comprises a user input unit and a display connector;

the base unit further comprises a base unit connector, and

wherein a control signal input through the user input unit is delivered to the base unit via the display connector and the base unit connector.

The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the base unit further comprises a base unit casing, a power board which is disposed in the base unit casing and is disposed thereon with the power supply unit, and a main board which is disposed in the base unit casing and is disposed thereon with the image processing unit.

25. The display apparatus according to claim 24, wherein the base unit further comprises at least one of a tuner and an external signal input unit.

26. The display apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the base unit further comprises a user input unit disposed at a top of the base unit.

27. The display apparatus according to claim 26, wherein the base unit includes a base unit connector and the display unit includes a display connector, and

the base unit connector is directly connected to the display connector,

wherein the base unit is directly coupled to a back side of the display unit, and

wherein a bottom of the base unit is disposed to be lower than the bottom of the display unit such that the user input unit is exposed from a front.

28. The display apparatus according to claim 26, wherein the user input unit is disposed to be slidably moved forward from and backward into the base unit.

29. The display apparatus according to claim 26, wherein the base unit connector is directly connected to the display connector,

wherein the base unit is directly coupled to a back side of the display unit, and

wherein the user input unit is disposed to be slidably moved forward from and backward into the base unit.

30. The display apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein the display unit includes a display connector and the base unit includes a base unit connector;

wherein the display support electrically connects ground of the base unit with ground of the display unit; and

wherein a connection cable is disposed in the display support and connects the display connector and the base unit connector.
