Abstract

An imaging apparatus receives an instruction to recapture an image last captured in a multiple exposure shooting mode after a first number of images in the multiple exposure shooting mode are acquired. The imaging apparatus generates an image into which an image captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode and a second number of images are multiple combined, the second number of images being the first number of images excluding the image last captured. The imaging apparatus displays, on a display unit, a first image obtained by multiple combining the first number of images and a second image obtained by multiple combining the second number of images after the first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode and before the instruction to recapture the image is received.

Claims

1. An imaging apparatus comprising:

a receiving unit configured to receive an instruction to recapture an image last captured in a multiple exposure shooting mode after a first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode;

a generation unit configured to generate an image into which an image that is captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode after the instruction to recapture the image is received by the receiving unit and a second number of images are multiple combined, the second number of images being the first number of images excluding the image last captured; and

a display control unit configured to display, on a display unit, a first image obtained by multiple combining the first number of images and a second image obtained by multiple combining the second number of images after the first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode and before the instruction to recapture the image is received by the receiving unit.

2. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the receiving unit is configured to receive the instruction to recapture the image when the display control unit is displaying the second image.

3. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to, according to a user operation, switch between the first image and the second image to be displayed.

4. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to display the first image and the second image in a quick review immediately after image capturing.

5. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to display the first image and the second image in a playback mode.

The imaging apparatus according to claim 5, wherein the display control unit is configured not to display an image that is captured before entry to the multiple exposure shooting mode except a base image if the playback mode is entered with one or more images captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode, and is configured to display also an image that is captured before entry to the multiple exposure shooting mode if the playback mode is entered after the instruction to recapture the image is received by the receiving unit in a state where only the image last captured is an image captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode.

7. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to display a monotone image or a warning that the second image cannot be displayed, instead of the second image if only the image last captured is an image captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode.

8. The imaging apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a retention unit configured to retain the second image generated before the first number of images are acquired even after the first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode.

10. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program that causes a computer to function as each unit of the imaging apparatus according to claim 1.

9. A method for controlling an imaging apparatus, comprising:

receiving an instruction to recapture an image last captured in a multiple exposure shooting mode after a first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode;

generating an image into which an image that is captured in the multiple exposure shooting mode after the instruction to recapture the image is received and a second number of images are multiple combined, the second number of images being the first number of images excluding the image last captured; and

displaying, on a display unit, a first image obtained by multiple combining the first number of images and a second image obtained by multiple combining the second number of images after the first number of images are acquired in the multiple exposure shooting mode and before the instruction to recapture the image is received.
