Abstract

The various embodiments include methods, computers and communication systems for controlling services across multiple heterogeneous networks by collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains, generating a message based on the collected communication information, and sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component. The generated message may include information for altering a functionality of a telecommunications domain component. Generating a message based on the collected communication information may include crowd sourcing the collected information, which may include summing, averaging, aggregating, comparing and/or correlating the collected information.

Claims

1. A method of modifying a service, comprising:

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains, each telecommunications domain having a public interface for publishing information collected from components in the telecommunications domain;

generating a message based on the collected communication information, the generated message including information for altering a functionality of a telecommunications domain component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises crowd sourcing the information collected from the plurality of telecommunications domains.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to one of the plurality of telecommunications domains.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a user equipment domain.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from a plurality of user equipment domains.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting one or more of:

application usage information;

time based information;

volume based information;

event based information;

performance based information;

service purchase information;

service rating information;

balance information;

policy information;

quality of service information;

contextual information; and

user information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein:

generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises comparing the information collected from a first component in a telecommunications domain to the information collected from a second component in a second telecommunications domain to determine if the information collected from the first component is consistent with the information collected from the second component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message only when it is determined that the information collected from the first component is not consistent with the information collected from the second component.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein generating a message based on the collected communication information and sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component are operations performed by a continuum orchestrator.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the continuum orchestrator is external to the plurality of telecommunications domains.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises at least one of summing, averaging, aggregating, comparing and correlating the collected communication information.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein:

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from at least one component in a user equipment domain; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a mobile packet core domain to alter the functionality of a mobile packet core component.

12. A computing device, comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising;

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains, each telecommunications domain having a public interface for publishing information collected from components in the telecommunications domain;

generating a message based on the collected communication information, the generated message including information for altering a functionality of a telecommunications domain component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component.

13. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises:

crowd sourcing the information collected from the plurality of telecommunications domains.

The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to one of the plurality of telecommunications domains from which communication information is collected.

The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a user equipment domain.

16. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from a plurality of user equipment domains.

17. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting one or more of:

application usage information;

time based information;

volume based information;

event based information;

performance based information;

service purchase information;

service rating information;

balance information;

policy information;

quality of service information;

contextual information; and

user information.

18. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that:

generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises comparing the information collected from a first component in a telecommunications domain to the information collected from a second component in a second telecommunications domain to determine if the information collected from the first component is consistent with the information collected from the second component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message only when it is determined that the information collected from the first component is not consistent with the information collected from the second component.

The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises at least one of summing, averaging, aggregating, comparing and correlating the collected communication information.

20. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions such that:

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from at least one component in a user equipment domain; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a mobile packet core domain to alter the functionality of a mobile packet core component.

21. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable software instructions configured to cause a processor to perform operations comprising:

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains, each telecommunications domain having a public interface for publishing information collected from components in the telecommunications domain;

generating a message based on the collected communication information, the generated message including information for altering a functionality of a telecommunications domain component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises crowd sourcing the information collected from the plurality of telecommunications domains.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to one of the plurality of telecommunications domains.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a user equipment domain.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from a plurality of user equipment domains.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting one or more of:

application usage information;

time based information;

volume based information;

event based information;

performance based information;

service purchase information;

service rating information;

balance information;

policy information;

quality of service information;

contextual information; and

user information.

27. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that:

generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises comparing the information collected from a first component in a telecommunications domain to the information collected from a second component in a second telecommunications domain to determine if the information collected from the first component is consistent with the information collected from the second component; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message only when it is determined that the information collected from the first component is not consistent with the information collected from the second component.

The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that generating a message based on the collected communication information comprises at least one of summing, averaging, aggregating, comparing and correlating the collected communication information.

29. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21, wherein the stored processor-executable software instructions are configured to cause a processor to perform operations such that:

collecting communication information from a plurality of telecommunications domains comprises collecting information from at least one component in a user equipment domain; and

sending the generated message to a public interface of a telecommunications domain to alter the functionality of the telecommunications domain component comprises sending the generated message to a public interface of a mobile packet core domain to alter the functionality of a mobile packet core component.
