1. ) A process for generation of human growth hormone in a subject having a systolic blood pressure, the process operative on one or more pressurizable cuffs developing an operational pressure by pumping a chilled coolant from a chilled coolant reservoir through said pressurized cuff and thereafter through a regulation valve for each said pressurized cuff which controls the return of chilled coolant to the coolant reservoir, each said pressurized cuff additionally having a transducer to measure subject blood flow, the process having:

  • a first step of placing subject extremities in said pressurizable cuff;

    a second step of using said transducer to measure a systolic blood pressure by varying at least one said regulation valve associated with said cuff;

    a third ramp-up step during a subject exertion interval whereby said pressurized cuff has a ramp-up coolant pressure P in the range of 33% to 220% of said measured systolic blood pressure, said pressurized cuff developing said ramp-up coolant pressure by control of said regulation valve of said cuff which returns said coolant to said coolant reservoir, said pressurized coolant at a temperature and pressure sufficient to reduce circulation in a subject;

    a fourth step of a sequence of N conditioning cycles, each conditioning cycle having an intense exertion interval performed by the subject followed by a reduced exertion interval performed by the subject, the intense exertion interval requiring substantially greater subject exertion than the ramp-up subject exertion;

    a fifth cool-down step of removing pressure from said pressurized cuffs by opening said regulation valves, and thereafter placing the subject in a substantially horizontal position and applying a cooled liquid contained in a flexible bladder to a spinal region for cooling of a patient cerebral spinal fluid (CSF).
