Abstract

Method and system for setting up a bearer are disclosed. The bearer setup method includes these steps: a packet data network gateway (PGW) obtains first quality of service (QoS) information and a first bearer identifier (ID), and sets up a bearer between the PGW and a radio access network (RAN) according to the first QoS information, where the bearer is associated with the first bearer ID; the RAN sets up a radio bearer (RB) with a user equipment (UE) according to second QoS information associated with the first QoS information, where the RB is associated with a second bearer ID associated with the first bearer ID.

Claims

1. A method for setting up a bearer, comprising:

obtaining, by a packet data network gateway (PGW), first quality of service (QoS) information and a first bearer identifier (ID), and setting up a bearer between the PGW and a serving general packet radio service support node (SGSN) according to the first QoS information so that a bear between the SGSN and a user equipment (UE) is set up according to second QoS information, wherein the bear between the PGW and the SGSN is associated with the first bearer ID and the bearer between the SGSN and the UE is associated with a second bearer ID;

the second QoS information is associated with the first QoS information; and

the second bearer ID is associated with the first bearer ID.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the setting up a bearer between the PGW and a serving general packet radio service support node (SGSN) according to the first QoS information comprises:

setting up, by the PGW, a first bearer between the PGW and a serving gateway (SGW) according to the first QoS information, wherein the first bearer is associated with the first bearer ID;

setting up, by the SGW, a second bearer between the SGSN and the SGW according to the first QoS information, wherein the second bearer is associated with the first bearer ID.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the bearer between the SGSN and the UE is set up according to the second QoS information through the following way:

setting up, by the SGSN, a third bearer between the SGSN and a radio access network (RAN) according to the second QoS information, wherein the third bearer is associated with the second bearer ID;

setting up, by the RAN, a radio bearer (RB) between the RAN and the UE according to the second QoS information.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the setting up, by the SGSN, a third bearer between the SGSN and the RAN according to the second QoS information comprises:

allocating, by the SGSN, a third uplink bearer resource (UBR) for the third bearer according to the second QoS information, and sending the second QoS information associated with the first QoS information, the second bearer ID associated with the first bearer ID and information about the third UBR to the RAN.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein mapping relationship between QoS information is stored in the SGSN;

and

the second QoS information is the QoS information mapped from the first QoS information according to the mapping relationship between QoS information.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein mapping relationship between bearer IDs is stored in the SGSN;

and

the second bearer ID is the bearer ID mapped from the first bearer ID according to the mapping relationship between bearer IDs.

7. The method of claim 2, wherein the setting up, by the PGW, a first bearer between the PGW and the SGW according to the first QoS information comprises:

allocating, by the PGW, a first UBR for the first bearer according to the first QoS information, and sending the first QoS information, the first bearer ID and information about the first UBR to the SGW.

8. The method of claim 2, wherein the setting up, by the SGW, a second bearer between an SGSN and the SGW according to the first QoS information comprises:

allocating, by the SGW, a second UBR for the second bearer according to the first QoS information, and sending the first QoS information, the first bearer ID and information about the second UBR to the SGSN.

9. The method of claim 3, wherein the setting up, by the RAN, a radio bearer (RB) between the RAN and a user equipment (UE) according to the second QoS information comprises:

allocating, by the RAN, first radio bearer UBR for the RB according to the second QoS information;

sending, by the RAN, the second QoS information, the second bearer ID, information about the first radio bearer UBR to the UE;

storing, by the UE, the information about the first radio bearer UBR, allocating a first radio bearer DBR for the RB, and sending the QoS information based on which the first radio bearer DBR is allocated, the second bearer ID, and information about the first radio bearer DBR to RAN; and

storing, by the RAN, the information about the first radio bearer DBR.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein, allocating, by the UE, a first radio bearer DBR for the RB according to the QoS information, the method further comprises:

judging, by the UE, whether the first radio bearer DBR can be allocated for the RB according to the second QoS information,

if the first radio bearer DBR can be allocated for the RB according to the second QoS information, allocating the first radio bearer DBR for the RB according to the second QoS information; and

if the first radio bearer DBR cannot be allocated for the RB according to the second QoS information, allocating the first radio bearer DBR for the RB according to a third QoS information, wherein the third QoS information is determined according to the UE'"'"'s resources by the UE.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein after the storing, by the RAN, the QoS information based on which the first radio bearer DBR is allocated, further comprises:

judging whether the QoS information based on which the first radio bearer DBR is allocated is a third QoS information;

if the QoS information is the third QoS information,

allocating, by the RAN, a second radio bearer UBR for the RB according to the third QoS information;

sending, by the RAN, the third QoS information, the second bearer ID, information about the second radio bearer UBR to UE; and

updating, by the UE, the information about the first radio bearer UBR to the information about the second radio bearer UBR.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising the RAN sets up or updates the bearer between the RAN and the PGW according to a fourth QoS information associated with the third QoS information.

13. A packet data network gateway (PGW), comprising:

a QoS information obtaining unit, adapted to obtain first QoS information;

an uplink bearer resource (UBR) allocating unit, adapted to allocate the first UBR for a first bearer according to the first QoS information;

an information sending unit, adapted to send the first QoS information and the information about the first UBR;

an information receiving unit, adapted to receive the first QoS information, information about first downlink bearer resource (DBR) and a first bearer ID; and

an information storing unit, adapted to store the first QoS information, the information about the first DBR and the first bearer ID.

14. The PGW of claim 13, further comprising:

a bearer ID obtaining unit, adapted to obtain the first bearer ID; and

the information sending unit, further adapted to send the first bearer ID along with the first QoS information and the information about the first UBR.

15. The PGW of claim 13, further comprising:

a trigger information receiving unit, adapted to receive trigger information for triggering bearer setup; and

the QoS information obtaining unit, adapted to obtain the first QoS information after the trigger information receiving unit receives the trigger information.

16. A serving gateway (SGW), comprising:

a QoS information obtaining unit, adapted to obtain first QoS information;

a downlink bearer resource (DBR) allocating unit, adapted to allocate a first DBR for a first bearer according to the first QoS information;

a DBR information sending unit, adapted to send the first QoS information and information about the first DBR;

an uplink bearer resource (UBR) information receiving unit, adapted to receive the first QoS information, information about the first UBR and a first bearer ID;

a UBR information storing unit, adapted to store the first QoS information, the information about the first UBR and the first bearer ID;

a UBR allocating unit, adapted to allocate a second UBR for a second bearer according to the first QoS information;

a UBR information sending unit, adapted to send the first QoS information and information about the second UBR;

a DBR information receiving unit, adapted to receive the first QoS information, information about the second DBR and the first bearer ID; and

a DBR information storing unit, adapted to store the first QoS information, the information about the second DBR and the first bearer ID.

17. The SGW of claim 16, further comprising:

a bearer ID obtaining unit, adapted to obtain the first bearer ID;

the DBR information sending unit, further adapted to send the first bearer ID along with the first QoS information and the information about the first DBR; and

the UBR information sending unit, further adapted to send the first bearer ID along with the first QoS information and the information about the second UBR.

18. The SGW of claim 16, further comprising:

a trigger information sending unit, adapted to send trigger information for triggering bearer setup.

19. A user equipment (UE), comprising:

a QoS information obtaining unit, adapted to obtain second QoS information;

a downlink bearer resource (DBR) allocating unit, adapted to allocate a DBR of a radio bearer (RB) for the RB according to the second QoS information;

an information sending unit, adapted to send the second QoS information and information about the radio bearer DBR;

an information receiving unit, adapted to receive the second QoS information, information about radio bearer uplink bearer resource (UBR), and a second bearer ID; and

an information storing unit, adapted to store the second QoS information, the information about the radio bearer UBR, and the second bearer ID.

20. The UE of claim 19, further comprising:

a bearer ID obtaining unit, adapted to obtain the second bearer ID; and

the information sending unit, further adapted to send the second bearer ID along with the second QoS information and the information about the radio bearer DBR.
