Abstract

Methods are provided in a first radio network node for supporting transmission power adjustment of a mobile terminal and in a second radio network node for assisting the first radio network node in supporting such adjustment. The first radio network node and the mobile terminal are adapted to operate on a first radio access technology. The power adjustment of the mobile terminal is performed in order to reduce interference, caused by the mobile terminal, on the second radio network node. The second radio network node is adapted to operate on a second radio access technology. The method includes obtaining an indication that the second radio network node is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal, obtaining values of power control parameters for adjusting the transmission power of the mobile terminal and transmitting the obtained power control parameter values to the mobile terminal, in order to enable the adjustment of the transmission power of the mobile terminal. Related arrangements are also provided herein.

Claims

1. Method in a first radio network node (110), for supporting transmission power adjustment of a mobile terminal (130) in order to reduce interference caused by the mobile terminal (130) on a second radio network node (120) situated at the same geographical location (100) as the first radio network node (110), the first radio network node (110) and the mobile terminal (130) being configured for operation on a first radio access technology while the second radio network node (120) being configured for operation on a second radio access technology, the method comprising the steps of:

obtaining (201) an indication that the second radio network node (120) is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal (130),

obtaining (202) values of power control parameters for adjusting the transmission power of the mobile terminal (130),

transmitting (203) the obtained power control parameter values to the mobile terminal (130), in order to enable the adjustment of the transmission power of the mobile terminal (130).

2. Method according to claim 1, wherein the obtained indication that the second radio network node (120) is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal (130), is based on an estimation, concerning the radio traffic situation within the geographical location (100).

3. Method according to any of claim 1 or 2, wherein the step of obtaining (201) an interference indication comprises receiving measurement values from the second radio network node (120).

4. Method according to any of the claims 1-3, wherein the values of power control parameters are based on previously assembled statistical data concerning different radio propagation conditions at the geographical location (100).

5. Method according to any of the claims 1-4, wherein the values of power control parameters are obtained from a predefined look-up table.

6. Method according to claim 5, wherein the predefined look-up table have multiple dimensions, one for each parameter such that the value of one parameter depends on the values chosen for all other parameters.

7. Method according to any of the claims 1-6, wherein the values of power control parameters are based on performed measurements concerning the radio propagation conditions.

8. Method according to any of the claims 1-7, wherein the values of power control parameters are received from the second radio network node (120).

9. Method according to any of the claims 1-8, wherein the values of power control parameters are applicable for the channels used at the edge of the channel bandwidth.

10. Method according to any of the claims 1-9, wherein the values of power control parameters depend upon the channel used for uplink transmission.

11. Method according to any of the claims 1-10, wherein the values of power control parameters depend upon the size of the data block transmitted in the uplink.

12. Method according to any of the claims 1-10, wherein the values of power control parameters depend upon the bandwidth of the channel used for the uplink transmission.

13. Method according to any of the claims 1-12, wherein the values of power control parameters depend upon the characteristics and/or activity level of the service used in the uplink.

14. Method according to any of the claims 1-13, wherein the transmission power of the first radio network node (110) is adjusted in order to avoid or at least reduce interference with the second radio network node (120).

15. Method according to any of the claims 1-14, wherein the first radio network node (110) and the second radio network node (120) are configured to operate in adjacent carrier frequencies or adjacent radio frequency channels.

Arrangement (300) in a first radio network node (110), for supporting transmission power adjustment of a mobile terminal (130) in order to reduce interference caused by the mobile terminal (130) on a second radio network node (120) situated at the same geographical location (100) as the first radio network node (110), the first radio network node (110) and the mobile terminal (130) being configured for operation on a first radio access technology while the second radio network node (120) being configured for operation on a second radio access technology, the arrangement (300) comprising:

a first obtaining unit (310), adapted to obtain an indication that the second radio network node (120) is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal (130),

a second obtaining unit (320), adapted to obtain values of power control parameters for adjusting the transmission power of the mobile terminal (130),

a transmitter (330), adapted to transmit the obtained power control parameter values to the mobile terminal (130), in order to enable the adjustment of the transmission power of the mobile terminal (130).

Method in a second radio network node (120), for assisting a first radio network node (110) in supporting transmission power adjustment of a mobile terminal (130) in order to reduce interference, caused by the mobile terminal (130), the first radio network node (110) and the second radio network node (120) being situated at the same geographical location (100), the first radio network node (110) and the mobile terminal (130) being configured for operation on a first radio access technology while the second radio network node (120) being configured for operation on a second radio access technology, the method comprising the steps of:

measuring (401) the signal interference induced by the mobile terminal (130),

sending (402) an indication that the second radio network node (120) is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal (130), if the measured signal interference from the mobile terminal (130) exceeds a certain predetermined threshold limit value.

18. Method according to claim 17, comprising the further step of:

estimating (403) the values of the power control parameters of the mobile terminal (130) in order to avoid or at least reduce interference, and

transmitting (404) the estimated power control parameters of the mobile terminal (130) to the first radio network node (110).

Arrangement (500) in a second radio network node (120), for assisting a first radio network node (110) in supporting transmission power adjustment of a mobile terminal (130) in order to reduce interference, caused by the mobile terminal (130), the first radio network node (110) and the second radio network node (120) being situated at the same geographical location (100), the first radio network node (110) and the mobile terminal (130) being configured for operation on a first radio access technology while the second radio network node (120) being configured for operation on a second radio access technology, the arrangement (500) comprising:

a measuring unit (510), adapted to measure the signal interference induced by the mobile terminal (130),

a transmitter (520), adapted to transmit an indication that the second radio network node (120) is interfered by transmissions from the mobile terminal (130), if the measured signal interference from the mobile terminal (130) exceeds a certain predetermined threshold limit value.
