Abstract

Embodiments of systems, methods, computer-readable media and article of manufacture related to putting stroke characteristics are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

collecting data with a portable electronic device related to at least one of position and motion of a golf club at least one of before, during and after at least one golf stroke performed with the golf club, the portable electronic device being attached to the golf club; and

determining at least one stroke characteristic with the portable electronic device based on the data.

2. A method as defined in claim 1, wherein collecting data with the portable electronic device comprises collecting data with the portable electronic device related to a plurality of putting strokes performed with the golf club, and wherein the plurality of putting strokes define a putting session.

3. A method as defined in claim 2, further comprising determining a consistency score associated with the putting session.

4. A method as defined in claim 3, further comprising generating a putting handicap associated with at least one putting session.

5. A method as defined in claim 1, wherein determining at least one stroke characteristic with the portable electronic device based on the data comprises determining a plurality of stroke characteristics with the portable electronic device based on the data.

6. A method as defined in claim 1, wherein the at least one stroke characteristic comprises at least one of closing angle, impact angle, tempo, impact lie angle and loft angle associated with the at least one golf stroke.

7. A method as defined in claim 1, wherein attaching the portable electronic device to the golf club comprises attaching a portable electronic device holder to the golf club, and attaching the portable electronic device to the portable electronic device holder.

8. A method as defined in claim 1, further comprising identifying a stroke type with the portable electronic device based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

9. A method as defined in claim 1, further comprising generating a visual display associated with at least one stroke characteristic on a display of the portable electronic device.

10. A method comprising:

measuring at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes of a golf club; and

generating a putting handicap based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

11. A method as defined in claim 10, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring the at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes.

12. A method as defined in claim 10, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring at least one of closing angle, impact angle, tempo, impact lie angle and loft angle.

13. A method as defined in claim 10, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring the at least one stroke characteristic with a portable electronic device attached to a golf club with a portable electronic device holder.

14. A method as defined in claim 10, wherein generating the putting handicap comprises calculating a consistency score associated with a putting session, and wherein a putting session comprises a plurality of putting strokes.

15. A method as defined in claim 10, further comprising identifying a stroke type based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

16. A method as defined in claim 10, further comprising generating a visual display associated with the at least one stroke characteristic.

17. A computer-readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method comprising:

measuring at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes of a golf club; and

generating a putting handicap based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

18. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring the at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes.

19. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring at least one of closing angle, impact angle, tempo, impact lie angle and loft angle.

20. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein measuring the at least one stroke characteristic comprises measuring the at least one stroke characteristic with a portable electronic device attached to a golf club with a portable electronic device holder.

21. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein generating the putting handicap comprises calculating a consistency score associated with a putting session, and wherein a putting session comprises a plurality of putting strokes.

22. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein the instructions when executed by a computer cause the computer to identify a stroke type based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

23. A computer-readable medium as defined in claim 17, wherein the instructions when executed by a computer cause the computer to generate a visual display associated with the at least one stroke characteristic.

24. An article of manufacture including content, which when accessed, causes a machine to:

measure at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes of a golf club; and

generate a putting handicap based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

25. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein to measure the at least one stroke characteristic comprises to measure the at least one stroke characteristic associated with a plurality of putting strokes.

26. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein to measure the at least one stroke characteristic comprises to measure at least one of closing angle, impact angle, tempo, impact lie angle and loft angle.

27. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein to measure the at least one stroke characteristic comprises to measure the at least one stroke characteristic with a portable electronic device attached to a golf club with a portable electronic device holder.

28. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein to generate the putting handicap comprises to calculate a consistency score associated with a putting session, and wherein a putting session comprises a plurality of putting strokes.

29. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein when the content is accessed, causes the machine to identify a stroke type based on the at least one stroke characteristic.

30. An article of manufacture as defined in claim 24, wherein when the content is accessed, causes the machine to generate a visual display associated with the at least one stroke characteristic.
