Abstract

An apparatus and method for playing data, played in a device connected with a portable terminal, in another device are provided. An apparatus for storing data of a peripheral device in a portable terminal includes a user interface (UI) managing unit and a data processing unit. The UI managing unit is configured to display, in the event of connection with a peripheral device, a UI for controlling data played in the peripheral device. The data processing unit is configured to copy the played data of the peripheral device through the UI and display a list of the copied data. The data processing unit is further configured to transmit data selected from the displayed list to another device.

Claims

1. An apparatus for storing data of a peripheral device in a portable terminal, comprising:

a memory unit configured to store information of data to be transmitted to another device;

a user interface (UI) managing unit configured to display, in the event of connection with a peripheral device, a UI for controlling data played in the peripheral device;

a data processing unit configured to copy the played data of the peripheral device through the UI and display a list of the copied data;

an input unit configured to input data corresponding to the UI; and

a control unit configured to transmit the played data of the peripheral device through the UI to an additional device,

wherein the data processing unit is configured to transmit data selected from the displayed list to the additional device, and the UI for controlling data includes at least one of;

a UI for copying the played data of the peripheral device;

a UI for selecting a storage mode of the played data;

a UI for representing an item of the stored data; and

a UI for representing a list of devices to receive the copied data.

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit is configured to copy the played data of the peripheral device by using at least one of a mode of storing the data in the portable terminal, a mode of storing the data in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit is further configured to obtain meta information of the copied data and add the obtained meta information to the list of the copied data.

4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the meta information includes at least one of a storage location and a file name of the data, and

wherein if the data are stored in a server, the meta information includes at least one of a password of the data stored in the server, a connection identification (ID) of the data stored in the server, and an Internet address of the data stored in the server, and if the data are transmitted through a remote control, the meta information includes at least one of a data ID, a device ID of a connected device, a password of a second server controlling the connected device, a connection ID of the second server, and an Internet address of the second server.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit is configured to detect a copy mode of the selected data and provide the selected data to the additional device based on the detected copy mode, and

wherein a mode of providing the selected data to the additional device includes at least one of a mode of transmitting the data stored in the portable terminal, a mode of transmitting the data stored in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the data processing unit is further configured to transmit meta information of the data stored in the specific server to the additional device to transmit the data stored in the specific server, and

wherein the additional device receiving the meta information is configured to transmit a data transmission request to the specific server.

7. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the data processing unit is further configured to transmit meta information of the data to be transmitted to the additional device to transmit the data through the remote control, and

wherein the additional device receiving the meta information is configured to transmit a data transmission request to the specific server, and the specific server is configured to transmit a data transmission request to a connected device.

8. A method for storing data of a peripheral device in a portable terminal, comprising:

displaying, in the event of connection with a peripheral device, a UI for controlling data played in the peripheral device;

copying the played data of the peripheral device through the UI;

displaying a list of the copied data; and

transmitting data selected from the displayed list to another device,

wherein the UI includes at least one of;

a UI for copying the played data of the peripheral device;

a UI for selecting a storage mode of the played data;

a UI for representing an item of the stored data; and

a UI for representing a list of devices to receive the copied data.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein copying the played data of the peripheral device through the UI includes at least one of a mode of storing the data in the portable terminal, a mode of storing the data in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein copying the played data of the peripheral device through the UI includes:

obtaining meta information of the copied data; and

adding the obtained meta information to the list of the copied data.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the meta information includes at least one of a storage location and a file name of the data, and

wherein if the data are stored in a server, the meta information includes at least one of a password of the data stored in the server, a connection identification (ID) of the data stored in the server, and an Internet address of the data stored in the server, and if the data are transmitted through a remote control, the meta information includes at least one of a data ID, a device ID of a connected device, a password of a second server controlling the connected device, a connection ID of the second server, and an Internet address of the second server.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein transmitting the data selected from the displayed list to an additional device includes:

detecting a copy mode of the selected data; and

providing the selected data to the additional device based on the detected copy mode,

wherein a mode of providing the selected data to the additional device includes at least one of a mode of transmitting the data stored in the portable terminal, a mode of transmitting the data stored in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the mode of transmitting the data stored in the specific server includes transmitting meta information of the data stored in the specific server to the additional device, and

wherein the additional device receiving the meta information is configured to transmit a data transmission request to the specific server.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the mode of transmitting the data through the remote control includes transmitting meta information of the data to be transmitted to the additional device, and

wherein the additional device receiving the meta information is configured to transmit a data transmission request to the specific server, and the specific server is configured to transmit a data transmission request to a connected device.

15. A portable terminal for storing data of a peripheral device, comprising:

a controller;

a memory unit; and

a software module configured for execution by the controller, the software module including one or more instructions to;

display, in the event of connection to a peripheral device, a user interface (UI) configured to control data played in the peripheral device,

copy the played data of the peripheral device through the UI,

display a list of the copied data, and

transmit data selected from the displayed list to another device,

wherein the UI includes at least one of;

a UI for copying the played data of the peripheral device,

a UI for selecting a storage mode of the played data,

a UI for representing an item of the stored data, and

a UI for representing a list of devices to receive the copied data.

The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the instructions to copy the played data of the peripheral device through the UI correspond to at least one of a mode of storing the data in the portable terminal, a mode of storing the data in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

17. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the instructions to copy the played data of the peripheral device through the UI include:

instructions to obtain meta information of the copied data; and

instructions to add the obtained meta information to the list of the copied data.

18. The portable terminal of claim 17, wherein the meta information includes at least one of a storage location and a file name of the data, and

wherein if the data are stored in a server, the meta information includes at least one of a password of the data stored in the server, a connection identification (ID) of the data stored in the server, and an Internet address of the data stored in the server, and if the data are transmitted through a remote control, the meta information includes at least one of a data ID, a device ID of a connected device, a password of a second server controlling the connected device, a connection ID of the second server, and an Internet address of the second server.

19. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the instructions to transmit the data selected from the displayed list to an additional device include:

instructions to detect a copy mode of the selected data; and

instructions to provide the selected data to the additional device based on the detected copy mode,

wherein a mode of providing the selected data to the additional device includes at least one of a mode of transmitting the data stored in the portable terminal, a mode of transmitting the data stored in a specific server, and a mode of transmitting the data through a remote control.

20. The portable terminal of claim 19, wherein the mode of transmitting the data stored in the specific server includes transmitting meta information of the data stored in the specific server to the additional device, and

wherein the additional device receiving the meta information is configured to transmit a data transmission request to the specific server.
