Abstract

Methods and apparatus for providing data processing and control for use in a medical communication system are provided.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

sampling a predetermined number of in vivo analyte sensors during an analyte sensor manufacturing process;

determining a sensitivity value for each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors;

comparing the sensitivity value for each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors to a predetermined sensitivity level;

determining a deviation of the sensitivity value to the predetermined sensitivity level including determining whether the determined deviation exceeds a tolerance threshold level;

determining a mean sensitivity based on the sensitivity value of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors; and

associating a sensor code to the predetermined number of analyte sensors when the determined mean sensitivity is within a predetermined sensitivity range.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the sensitivity value is determined in vitro.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the in vitro determination of the sensitivity value includes measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor is performed during sensor manufacturing.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the sensor code is used to calibrate the analyte sensors.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the sensor code is stored in an analyte monitoring device.

7. A method, comprising:

sampling a predetermined number of in vivo analyte sensors during an analyte sensor manufacturing process;

determining a sensitivity value for each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors;

determining a mean sensitivity based on the sensitivity value of each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors;

comparing the mean sensitivity value to a predetermined sensitivity level;

determining a deviation of the mean sensitivity value to the predetermined sensitivity level, including determining whether the determined deviation exceeds a tolerance threshold level; and

associating a sensor code to the predetermined number of analyte sensors when the mean sensitivity falls within a predetermined sensitivity range.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein the sensitivity value is determined in vitro.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the in vitro determination of the sensitivity value includes measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor.

10. The method of claim 9 wherein measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor is performed during sensor manufacturing.

11. The method of claim 7 wherein the sensor code is used to calibrate the analyte sensors.

12. The method of claim 7 wherein the sensor code is stored in an analyte monitoring device.

13. A method, comprising:

sampling a predetermined number of in vivo analyte sensors during an analyte sensor manufacturing process;

determining a sensitivity value for each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors;

determining a sensitivity variation based on the sensitivity value of each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors;

comparing the sensitivity variation to a predetermined sensitivity variation level;

determining a deviation of the sensitivity variation to the predetermined sensitivity variation level, including determining whether the determined deviation exceeds a tolerance threshold level;

determining a mean sensitivity based on the sensitivity value of each of the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors; and

associating a sensor code to the predetermined number of analyte sensors when the mean sensitivity falls within a predetermined sensitivity range.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the determined sensitivity variation is calculated as the coefficient of variation.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein upon detecting that the determined deviation exceeds the tolerance threshold level, rejecting the analyte sensors associated with the sampled predetermined number of analyte sensors during the manufacturing process.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the sensitivity value is determined in vitro.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein the in vitro determination of the sensitivity value includes measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein measuring the sensitivity value for each analyte sensor is performed during sensor manufacturing.

19. The method of claim 13 wherein the sensor code is used to calibrate the analyte sensors.

20. The method of claim 13 wherein the sensor code is stored in an analyte monitoring device.
