Abstract

A method including identifying a customer when the customer uses a television service; storing contents that are each tagged with a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or one or more personality characteristics pertaining to a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; selecting contents from the stored contents; providing a user interface to permit the customer to choose from a selection of the stored contents to rate; receiving ratings of a chosen contents from the customer; identifying the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator based on the received ratings; and providing the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to the customer.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

providing a television service to customers;

identifying a customer when the customer uses the television service;

storing contents that are each tagged with a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or one or more personality characteristics pertaining to a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator;

selecting contents from the stored contents;

providing a user interface to permit the customer to choose from a selection of the stored contents to rate;

receiving ratings of a chosen contents from the customer;

identifying the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator based on the received ratings; and

providing the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to the customer.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

using the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a basis to recommend content to the customer.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the user interface includes thumbnails or posters representing the stored contents.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

determining whether a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have been rated to identify the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

selecting additional thumbnails or posters for the customer to rate when it is determined that a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have not been rated.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining whether a threshold rating value has been satisfied for any Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

wherein the identifying comprises;

selecting a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator when it is determined that the threshold rating value has been satisfied.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

randomly selecting one or more of the stored contents for the customer to rate.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing a web site that permits the customer to share the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator with other customers and form customer groups based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicators.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

selecting other stored contents tagged as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator counterparts relative to a portion of the selection of the stored contents when the portion of the selection of the stored contents does not receive a rating; and

providing a user interface to permit the customer to choose from the other stored contents to rate.

9. A device comprising:

one or more memories to store instructions; and

one or more processing systems to execute the instructions that configure the one or more processing systems to;

obtain a customer'"'"'s identity;

store contents that are each tagged with a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or one or more personality characteristics pertaining to a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator;

select contents from the stored contents;

provide a user interface to permit the customer to choose from a selection of the stored contents to rate;

receive ratings of a chosen contents from the customer;

identify the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator based on the received ratings; and

provide the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to the customer.

10. The device of claim 9, wherein the user interface includes thumbnails or posters representing the stored contents.

11. The device of claim 10, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

determine whether a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have been rated to identify the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

select additional thumbnails or posters for the customer to rate when it is determined that a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have not been rated.

12. The device of claim 9, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

determine whether a threshold rating value has been satisfied for any Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

wherein the identifying comprises;

select a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator when it is determined that the threshold rating value has been satisfied.

13. The device of claim 9, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

provide the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and a customer identifier to a recommendation engine capable of recommending content to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the customer identifier.

14. The device of claim 9, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

provide the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and a customer identifier to a web site that permits the customer to share the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator with other customers and form customer groups based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicators.

15. The device of claim 14, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

identify a content the customer has viewed; and

randomly select one or more of the stored contents for the customer to rate, wherein at least one of the one or more stored contents is content the customer has viewed.

16. The device of claim 9, wherein the one or more processing systems execute the instructions that further configure the one or more processing systems to:

obtain content viewing information pertaining to the customer; and

determine which of the stored contents included in the selection of the stored contents has been viewed by the customer.

17. A tangible readable medium storing instructions for:

obtaining a customer identifier associated with a customer'"'"'s subscription to a television service;

storing contents that are each tagged with a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or one or more personality characteristics pertaining to a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator;

selecting contents from the stored contents;

providing a user interface to permit the customer to choose from a selection of the stored contents to rate;

receiving ratings of a chosen contents from the customer;

identifying the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator based on the received ratings; and

providing the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to the customer.

18. The tangible readable medium of claim 17, wherein the user interface includes thumbnails or posters representing the stored contents, and the tangible readable medium further storing instructions for:

determining whether a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have been rated to identify the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

selecting additional thumbnails or posters for the customer to rate when it is determined that a sufficient number of thumbnails or posters have not been rated.

19. The tangible readable medium of claim 17, further storing instructions for:

determining whether a threshold rating value has been satisfied for any Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; and

wherein the identifying comprises;

selecting a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator when it is determined that the threshold rating value has been satisfied.

20. The tangible readable medium of claim 17, further storing instructions for:

providing the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and a customer identifier to a recommendation engine capable of recommending content to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the customer identifier.
