Abstract

A system and method for allowing a telemarketer to place a series of telephone calls to called parties utilizes a distributed processing architecture. This allows the telemarketer to utilize data stored at remote locations to help interact with called parties. In addition, the telemarketer can utilize telephone assets to quickly and easily place multiple simultaneous calls to different called parties.

Claims

1. A method of causing a voice application to be performed on a party'"'"'s local device, comprising:

selecting a voice application to be performed for a party; and

causing the voice application to be performed for the party by a voice applications agent that is located, at least in part, on the party'"'"'s local device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the selecting step is performed using at least one of a voice application and a voice applications agent located, at least in part, on a user'"'"'s local device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the selecting step is performed using a graphical user interface of a computing device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprising causing the voice application to be performed the next time that the party accesses the party'"'"'s local device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing the party to be notified that a voice application is ready to be performed for the party.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing a message to be recorded in a voice mailbox for the party.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party via the party'"'"'s local device.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party comprises causing personalized information to be inserted into the message based on at least one characteristic of the party.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein a first user performs the selecting step, and wherein causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party comprises inserting personalized information into the message based on at least one characteristic of the first user.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing an interactive voice application to be performed for the party, and wherein the interactive voice application obtains information from the party.

11. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by one or more processors of a local device and/or one or more processors of at least one computer server in communication with the local device, cause the local device and/or the at least one computer server to perform a method comprising:

selecting a voice application to be performed for a party; and

causing the voice application to be performed for the party by a voice applications agent that is located, at least in part, on the party'"'"'s local device.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein the selecting step is performed using at least one of a voice application and a voice applications agent located, at least in part, on a user'"'"'s local device.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprising causing the voice application to be performed the next time that the party accesses the party'"'"'s local device.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing the party to be notified that a voice application is ready to be performed for the party.

15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing a message to be recorded in a voice mailbox for the party.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party via the party'"'"'s local device.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16, wherein causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party comprises causing personalized information to be inserted into the message based on at least one characteristic of the party.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16, wherein a first user performs the selecting step, and wherein causing a voice application to play or display a message to the party comprises inserting personalized information into the message based on at least one characteristic of the first user.

19. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the voice application to be performed comprises causing an interactive voice application to be performed for the party, and wherein the interactive voice application obtains information from the party.

20. A method of causing voice applications to be performed for multiple parties, comprising:

selecting a generic voice application to be performed for the multiple parties;

specifying a set of characteristics for the parties to whom the generic voice application is to be performed; and

causing the generic voice application to be performed for parties who satisfy the specified set of characteristics, wherein the voice generic application is performed by a voice applications agent that is located, at least in part, on each of the partys'"'"' local devices.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the causing step is performed such that each time a voice applications agent performs the generic voice application for a party, the generic voice application is customized based on at least one characteristic of the party for whom the voice application is being performed.
