Abstract

There is provided a system and method for providing context-based limited availability commerce options. There is provided a method comprising receiving a sensor data sample corresponding to a segment for an event, matching the sensor data sample to a media record in a media database, the media record including an identity of the event, generating an advertising campaign of limited availability commerce options using a context including the identity of the event and a location of a device, and presenting the advertising campaign on a display of the device. When the event corresponds to a theatrical movie showing, the segment may correspond to the first few measures of a song for an end credit roll, and the sensor data sample may be recorded from a microphone. The commerce options may be limited based on time, location, demographics, user or group participation, and other criteria..

Claims

1. A method for providing context-based limited availability commerce options for an event through a mobile device, the method comprising:

receiving a sensor data sample corresponding to a segment for the event;

matching the sensor data sample to a media record in a media database, wherein the media record includes an identity of the event;

generating an advertising campaign of limited availability commerce options using a context, wherein the context includes the identity of the event and a location of the mobile device;

presenting the advertising campaign on a display of the mobile device.

2. The method of claim 1,wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by the location of the mobile device being within proximity to a location of the event.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by a time window.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by the mobile device reaching a participation threshold in an activity.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the activity is a group activity including nearby mobile devices.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the event corresponds to a theatrical movie, and wherein the segment corresponds to an ending credit roll.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the sensor data sample is received from a microphone, and wherein the matching is by an audio fingerprint in the media record.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the context further includes a user profile of the mobile device.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the receiving is in response to detecting the location of the mobile device within proximity to a location of the event.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option for purchasing a media of the event.

11. A mobile device for providing context-based limited availability commerce options for an event, the device comprising a processor configured to:

receive a sensor data sample corresponding to a segment for the event;

match the sensor data sample to a media record in a media database, wherein the media record includes an identity of the event;

generate an advertising campaign of limited availability commerce options using a context, wherein the context includes the identity of the event and a location of the mobile device;

present the advertising campaign on a display of the mobile device.

12. The mobile device of claim 11,wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by the location of the mobile device being within proximity to a location of the event.

13. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by a time window.

14. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option limited by the mobile device reaching a participation threshold in an activity.

15. The mobile device of claim 14, wherein the activity is a group activity including nearby mobile devices.

16. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the event corresponds to a theatrical movie, and wherein the segment corresponds to an ending credit roll.

17. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the sensor data sample is received from a microphone, and wherein the processor is configured to match to an audio fingerprint in the media record.

18. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the context further includes a user profile of the mobile device.

19. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the processor is configured to receive in response to detecting the location of the device within proximity to a location of the event.

20. The mobile device of claim 11, wherein the advertising campaign includes a commerce option for purchasing a media of the event.
