Abstract

A system and method for creating content such as artificial reality (AR) messages at an event, particularly among members on a social network, thereby enhancing and expanding the event experience. Typically, a participant shares an event with spectators, such as friends or a subset of friends in the participant'"'"'s social network. The AR message may include geo-referenced artificial reality words, products or symbols and appear in a perspective view of the event to the participant or spectators. In addition to creating an active gallery for an event, messages, audio and video can be exchanged among participants and spectators, and virtual goods, money, bets, applause, other feedback, and donations exchanged.

Claims

1. A method of creating an event with members of a social network, comprising:

announcing an event to one or more members of said social network;

electing to join said event by said one or more members;

operating a device accompanying at least one participant during the event to track positions of said participant during the event;

communicating said participant positions to a social media server associated with said social network;

viewing said event by said one or more joining members wherein at least one view is a perspective view from a member selected position;

creating content and posting the content to said media server;

distributing the content from said media server to one or more devices accompanying said participant and joining members; and

viewing said created content on one or more participant devices and joining member devices.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is created and communicated to said media server during the event.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is created and communicated to said media server after the event.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is an artificial reality (AR) message affixed to a georeferenced location in said perspective view.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is a video.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is an audio file.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is distributed to all participant members during the event.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the background of the perspective view is a photographic image.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the background of the perspective view is an artificial reality environment.

10. The method of claim 4, wherein the AR message is created by one participant member and is communicated to a select participant member and appears in the perspective view of the select participant member.

11. The method of claim 4, wherein the content of the AR message is created based on context.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the AR message is georeferenced and distributed to certain members based on context.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the context is based on one or more of:

machine ID of the computer, search history, location history, personal information, social media participation, personal income, personal demographics, time of day, location, weather, loyalty program membership, media library, user opinion or opinions of friends and family.

14. A system of creating an event with members of a social network, comprising:

a communication link between a participant in the event and a social network to announce to one or more members of a social network an opportunity to join said event;

a device accompanying said participant during the event to determine positions of said participant during the event;

a social network server associated with said social network,

wherein said server operates to permit said one or more members to become spectators to said event by connecting to said social network server;

a communication link between said device and said server associated with said social network to communicate said participant positions to said server; and

a communication link between said server and said spectators where the spectators can view said event in a perspective view from a selected position and operable to post an artificial reality (AR) message to the server for display to the participant or one or more spectators.

15. The system of claim 14, the device including a GPS receiver for determining positions of the participant at the venue for the event.

16. The system of claim 14, at least one of said communication links comprising a cellular network.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein said communication link is operable to allow spectators to post the AR message for display in a perspective view of said participant.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein said AR message is applause and said communication link and server permits speculators to post applause to a participant.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the background to said perspective view is a photo image.

20. The system of claim 14, wherein the background to said perspective view is an artificial reality background.
