Abstract

The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing substituted 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrins as well as their use as osmotic agents, in particular for use in dialysis therapy.

Claims

1. A 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin of the general structure I:

3. The 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the degree of substitution is ≧

1 and ≦

n.

4. The 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin according to claim 1, wherein a 7.5 wt % aqueous solution of 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin has an osmolarity of ≧

5 mosm/L.

5. The 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin according to claim 1, for use in dialysis therapy, preferably hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis therapy.

6. A use of the 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin according to claim 1 for adjusting the tonicity of drugs.

7. A dialysis solution containing at least one 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin according to claim 1.

8. A kit configured for preparing the dialysis solution according to claim 7, comprising:

a first component,

a second component and

optionally one or more additional components, wherein the dialysis solution according to claim 7 is obtained by mixing the first component with the second component and optionally with the additional component(s).

9. A solid composition suitable for preparing the dialysis solution according to claim 7, wherein the dialysis solution is obtained by dissolving the solid composition in a solvent.

11. A process for preparing a dialysis solution containing at least one 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin compound according to claim 1, the process comprising mixing the at least one 6-deoxy-6-sulfanylcyclodextrin compound with other components of the dialysis solution.

12. A process for the preparation of a dialysis solution from the solid composition of claim 8, the process comprising dissolving the solid composition in a solvent.
