Apparatus For Installation Of A Textile Deck Assembly In An Article Of Furniture
First Claim
1. An apparatus for installing a fabric decking material in an article of furniture, the apparatus comprising:
- a cylindrical base having a central axis and adapted to be placed in proximity to a frame of the article of furniture;
a plurality of spaced needles extending away from said base and aligned in a row parallel to said axis of said cylindrical base, said needles extending a distance greater than a thickness of the fabric decking material; and
a rotation mechanism coupled to said cylindrical base and operable to impart a rotational movement to said cylindrical base about said axis, between a first, ready position for engagement with the fabric decking material, and a second stretched position.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for applying tension to a fabric decking on an article of furniture are described. The apparatus includes a cylindrical base having a central axis and that is adapted to be placed in proximity to a frame of the article of furniture. A plurality of spaced needles are coupled to, and extend away from, said base. The needles are aligned in a row parallel to the axis of the cylindrical base. The needles extend away from the base a distance greater than a thickness of the fabric decking material. The apparatus also includes a rotation mechanism coupled to the base and operable to impart a rotational movement to the base about the axis, between a first, ready position for engagement with the fabric decking material, and a second stretched position.

11. A method for installing a deck assembly in an article of furniture, the method comprising:
-
in a frame having a front rail, a rear rail and opposed sides extending between said front and rear rails, attaching a fabric decking material along said rear rail of said frame; extending the material from said rear rail and over said front rail; securing at least a portion of said material forwardly of said front rail in a rotational tool having extending needles that puncture said fabric; applying a rotational force on the rotational tool to stretch the decking between the front rail and the rear rail; and attaching the material to the front rail while in the stretched condition. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14)

15. An apparatus for installing a fabric decking material in an article of furniture, the apparatus comprising:
-
a base having upstanding first and second end supports; an engagement section extending between the first and second end supports and having a central axis and adapted to be placed in proximity to a frame of the article of furniture; a plurality of spaced needles extending away from said engagement section and aligned in a row parallel to said axis of said section, said needles extending a distance greater than a thickness of the fabric decking material; and a powered rotation mechanism coupled to said engagement section and operable to impart a rotational movement to said section about said axis, between a first, ready position for engagement with the fabric decking material, and a second stretched position. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18)
