- first and second image sensors for capturing images and generating image data;
a color display for displaying captured images to a user; and
an integral processor configured for;
controlling operation of the first and second image sensors;
controlling operation of the color display;
decoding an imaged coding pattern printed on a substrate; and
performing an action in said handheld electronic device based on the decoded coding pattern,wherein said decoding comprises the steps of;
determining a data area in the image data received from the first or second image sensor; and
decoding the coding pattern contained in the determined data area.
