Abstract

In one embodiment, a mini appliance comprises: one or more low-power, low-heat, and low sound processors; one or more memories; and one or more software modules performing one or more system-management functionalities.

Claims

1. A mini appliance comprising:

one or more low-power, low-heat, and low sound processors;

one or more memories; and

one or more software modules performing one or more system-management functionalities.

2. The mini appliance of claim 1, wherein the mini appliance is no greater than six inches in length, no greater than six inches in width, no greater than two inches in height, and no more than 2.5 lbs in weight.

3. The mini appliance of claim 1, wherein each processor implements advanced reduced instruction set computer machine architecture.

4. The mini appliance of claim 1, wherein the one or more memories comprise one or more double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memories and one or more solid state drives.

5. The mini appliance of claim 1, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise software inventory and license compliance.

6. The mini appliance of claim 1, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise one or more of software patching, software inventory, data backup, or device security.

7. A system comprising:

one or more low-power, low-heat, and low sound processors;

one or more memories; and

one or more software modules performing one or more system-management functionalities.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein each processor implements advanced reduced instruction set computer machine architecture.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the one or more memories comprise one or more double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memories and one or more solid state drives.

10. The system of claim 7, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise software inventory and license compliance.

11. The system of claim 7, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise one or more of software patching, software inventory, data backup, or device security.

12. An apparatus comprising:

one or more low-power, low-heat, and low sound processors;

one or more memories; and

one or more software modules performing one or more system-management functionalities.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the apparatus is no greater than six inches in length, no greater than six inches in width, no greater than two inches in height, and no more than 2.5 lbs in weight.

14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein each processor implements advanced reduced instruction set computer machine architecture.

15. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the one or more memories comprise one or more double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memories and one or more solid state drives.

16. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise software inventory and license compliance.

17. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the one or more system-management functionalities comprise one or more of software patching, software inventory, data backup, or device security.
