Abstract

Methods, systems and devices for controlling mobile device functions via a combination of parental control settings set by a parent-user and parental control settings set by a third party-user. A parental control server receives parental control settings and context criteria from a parent-user, and parental control settings from a third party user. The parental control server receives authorization from the parent-user to allow third party parental controls to control a child'"'"'s device. When the context criteria identified by the parent is present (e.g., child device is in identified location, time of day, day of week, etc.), a combination of parental controls designated by the parent-user and the third party control the mobile device.

Claims

1. A method of implementing parental controls on a mobile device, comprising:

receiving, in a parental control server, parent-user parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device;

pushing the parent-user parental control parameters from the parental control server to the mobile device through a communication network;

receiving, in the mobile device, the parent-user parental control parameters; and

implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user parental control parameters to limit accesses to one or more mobile device functions.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the parental control server is a central parental control settings server accessed by users via an Internet.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the parental control server is a local parental control settings server under control of one or more parents.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, in the parental control server, third-party parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device;

receiving, in the parental control server, authorization to allow the third-party parental control parameters to control the mobile device;

receiving, in the parental control server, a user-defined context-based condition identifying a context in which the third-party parental control parameters are to control the mobile device;

pushing the received third-party access control parameters and user-defined context-based condition from the parental control server to the mobile device through the communication network;

determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied;

modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein pushing the received third-party access control parameters to the mobile device occurs before the context-based condition is satisfied, the method further comprising storing the received third-party access control parameters in memory of the mobile device.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein pushing the received third-party access control parameters to the mobile device occurs when the context-based condition is satisfied.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

pushing from a third-party to the mobile device a command that is executable by the mobile device; and

executing the command on the mobile device.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein executing the command on the mobile device comprises executing a command related to display of media on the mobile device.

9. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

monitoring identified context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied; and

implementing the reverted parental control profile on the mobile device.

10. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving, in the parental control server, a list identifying one or more parent-user parental control parameters that are not to be modified by the third-party parental control parameters,

wherein pushing third-party access control parameters from the parental control server to the mobile device via the communication network comprises excluding third-party parental control parameters that are identified in the received list.

11. The method of claim 4, wherein the parental control server determines whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

12. The method of claim 4, wherein the mobile device determines whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

13. The method of claim 4, wherein the context is a particular time of day and the context-based condition is satisfied only during the particular time of day.

14. The method of claim 4, wherein the context is a particular location and the context-based condition is satisfied only if the mobile is physically inside the particular location.

15. The method of claim 4, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

16. The method of claim 4, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

17. The method of claim 4, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

20. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on time.

23. The method of claim 20, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content on the mobile device by:

receiving a request for third party content;

determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile; and

forwarding the request for content to a third party web site if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

receiving content from the third party website;

determining whether the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile;

filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile; and

displaying the filtered content to the mobile device.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein filtering the content and sending the filter content to the mobile device is performed by an access control server processor of the parental control server.

26. The method of claim 24, wherein filtering the content and sending the filter content to the mobile device is performed by a mobile device processor of the mobile device.

27. The method of claim 20, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content received on the mobile device by:

receiving a request to access third party content from the mobile device, the request to access including identification information identifying one of a mobile device user and a mobile device;

determining if at least one user account is associated with the identification information;

receiving control parameters from the parental control server if it is determined that the at least one user account is associated with the identification information;

determining whether the requested content is of a type controlled by the received control parameters;

determining whether the requested content contains material controlled by the received control parameters; and

filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the control parameters; and

sending the filtered content to the mobile device.

28. The method of claim 1, wherein implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user parental control parameters to limit accesses to one or more mobile device functions comprises requiring authorization prior to permitting a designated action by:

monitoring the mobile device to determine if a designated action has been initiated;

sending a message to an authorized user to determine if the designated action is authorized if it is determined that the designated action has been initiated;

receiving a message indicating whether the designated action is authorized; and

performing the designated action if the received message authorizes the designated action.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the designated action is receiving a text message from a source not listed in an address book of the mobile device.

30. The method of claim 28, wherein the designated action is granting a new user access to an online social network.

31. The method of claim 1, wherein:

the mobile device is a mobile phone; and

the communication network is a cellular communication network.

32. A system for implementing parental controls on a mobile device, comprising:

a parental control settings server;

a communications network; and

a mobile device interconnected to the parental control settings server through the communications network,

wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations comprising;

receiving input parent-user parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device; and

pushing parent-user parental control parameters to the mobile device via the communication network, and

wherein the mobile device comprises;

a display;

an internal memory; and

a processor coupled to the display and the internal memory, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising;

receiving the parent-user parental control parameters from the parental control server; and

implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user control parameters to limit access to one or more mobile device functions.

33. The system of claim 32, wherein the parental control settings server is a central parental control settings server, wherein the central parental control settings server is accessible to users through an Internet.

34. The system of claim 32, wherein the parental control settings server is a local parental control settings server under control of one or more parents.

35. The system of claim 32, wherein:

the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations further comprising;

receiving third-party parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device, receiving authorization to allow the third-party parental control parameters to control the mobile device;

receiving a user-defined context-based condition identifying a context in which the third-party parental control parameters are to control the mobile device; and

pushing the received third-party parental control parameters and user-defined context-based condition to the mobile device through the communication network, and

the mobile device is configured to perform operations further comprising;

determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied, modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

36. The system of claim 35, wherein:

the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations such that pushing the received third-party access control parameters to the mobile device is performed before the context-based condition is satisfied; and

the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising storing the received third-party access control parameters in the internal memory.

37. The system of claim 35, wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations such that pushing the receiving third-party access control parameters to the mobile device occurs when the context-based condition is satisfied.

38. The system of claim 37, further comprising:

a third-party device, wherein the third-party device is configured to push to the mobile device a command that is executable by the mobile device; and

wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising executing the command from the third-party device.

39. The system of claim 38, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that executing the command comprises executing a command related to display of media on the mobile device.

40. The system of claim 35, wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations further comprising:

monitoring an identified context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied,

wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising implementing the reverted parental control profile.

41. The system of claim 35, wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a list identifying one or more parent-user parental control parameters that are not to be modified by the third-party parental control parameters,

wherein the parental control settings server is configured such that pushing third-party access control parameters to the mobile device via the communication network comprises excluding third-party parental control parameters that are identified in the received list.

42. The system of claim 35, wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations further comprising determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

43. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

44. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that the context is a particular time of day and the context-based condition is satisfied only during the particular time of day.

45. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that:

the context is a particular location; and

the context-based condition is satisfied only if the mobile is physically inside the particular location.

46. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

47. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device, and wherein at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

48. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

49. The system of claim 32, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

50. The system of claim 32, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

51. The system of claim 32, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

52. The system of claim 51, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

53. The system of claim 51, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on time.

54. The system of claim 51, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content on the mobile device by:

receiving a request for third party content;

determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile; and

forwarding the request for content to a third party web site if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile.

55. The system of claim 54, wherein the parental control settings server is configured to perform operations further comprising:

receiving content from the third party website; and

determining whether the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile.

56. The system of claim 55, wherein the parental control settings server comprises an access control processor configured to perform operations comprising:

filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile; and

sending the filtered content to the mobile device,

wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that filtered content is displayed on the mobile device.

57. The system of claim 55, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising:

filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile; and

displaying the filtered content.

58. The system of claim 51, wherein the server is configured such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content received on the mobile device by:

receiving a request to access third party content from the mobile device, the request to access including identification information identifying one of a mobile device user and a mobile device;

determining if at least one user account is associated with the identification information;

receiving control parameters from the parental control settings server if it is determined that the at least one user account is associated with the identification information;

determining whether the requested content is of a type controlled by the received control parameters;

determining whether the requested content contains material controlled by the received control parameters; and

filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the control parameters.

59. The system of claim 32, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user parental control parameters to limit accesses to one or more mobile device functions comprises requiring authorization prior to permitting a designated action by:

determining if a designated action has been initiated;

sending a message to an authorized user to determine if the designated action is authorized if it is determined that the designated action has been initiated;

receiving a message indicating whether the designated action is authorized; and

performing the designated action if the received message authorizes the designated action.

60. The system of claim 59, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that the designated action is receiving a text message from a source not listed in an address book of the mobile device.

61. The system of claim 60, wherein the mobile device processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations such that the wherein the designated action is granting a new user access to an online social network.

62. The system of claim 32, wherein:

the mobile device is a mobile phone; and

the communication network is a cellular communication network.

63. A system for implementing parental controls on a mobile device, comprising:

means for receiving parent-user parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device;

means for pushing the parent-user parental control parameters to the mobile device; and

a mobile device comprising;

means for receiving the parent-user parental control parameters from the parental control settings server; and

means for implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user control parameters to limit access to one or more mobile device functions.

64. The system of claim 63, further comprising:

means for receiving third-party parental control parameters that identify mobile device functions to be controlled in the mobile device;

means for receiving authorization to allow the third-party parental control parameters to control the mobile device;

means for receiving a user-defined context-based condition identifying a context in which the third-party parental control parameters are to control the mobile device; and

means for pushing the received third-party parental control parameters and user-defined context-based condition to the mobile device through a communication network,

wherein the mobile device further comprises;

means for determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied;

means for modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

means for implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

65. The system of claim 64, further comprising:

means for pushing the received third-party access control parameters to the mobile device before the context-based condition is satisfied; and

means for storing the received third-party access control parameters in memory of the mobile device.

66. The system of claim 64, further comprising means for pushing the received third-party access control parameters to the mobile device when the context-based condition is satisfied.

67. The system of claim 66, further comprising:

means for pushing to the mobile device a command that is executable by the mobile device; and

means for executing the command on the mobile device.

68. The system of claim 67, wherein means for executing the command comprises means for executing a command related to display of media on the mobile device.

69. The system of claim 64, wherein the mobile device further comprises:

means for monitoring identified context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

means for reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied,

means for implementing the reverted parental control profile.

70. The system of claim 64, further comprising:

means for receiving a list identifying one or more parent-user parental control parameters that are not to be modified by the third-party parental control parameters,

wherein pushing third-party access control parameters to the mobile device via the communication network comprises means for excluding third-party parental control parameters that are identified in the received list.

71. The system of claim 64, wherein the mobile device further comprises means for determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

72. The system of claim 64, wherein the mobile device further comprises means for determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied.

73. The system of claim 64, wherein means for determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied comprises means for determining whether current time matches a particular time of day.

74. The system of claim 64, wherein means for determining whether the context-based condition is satisfied comprises means for determining whether a current location matches a particular location.

75. The system of claim 64, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

76. The system of claim 64, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

77. The system of claim 64, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

78. The system of claim 64, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

79. The system of claim 63, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

80. The system of claim 63, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

81. The system of claim 80, wherein the mobile device further comprises:

means for limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

82. The system of claim 80, wherein the mobile device further comprises means for restricting the Internet browsing function based on time.

83. The system of claim 80, wherein the mobile device further comprises means for restricting the Internet browsing function comprising:

means for receiving a request for third party content;

means for determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile; and

means for forwarding the request for content to a third party web site if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile.

84. The system of claim 80, further comprising:

means for receiving content from the third party website;

means for determining whether the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile; and

means for filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the parental control profile.

85. The system of claim 84, further comprising means for sending the filtered content to the mobile device.

86. The system of claim 83, further comprising

means for receiving a request to access third party content from the mobile device, the request to access including identification information identifying one of a mobile device user and a mobile device;

and

means for determining if at least one user account is associated with the identification information,

wherein the mobile device further comprises;

means for receiving control parameters from the parental control server if it is determined that the at least one user account is associated with the identification information;

means for determining whether the requested content is of a type controlled by the received control parameters;

means for determining whether the requested content contains material controlled by the received control parameters; and

means for filtering the content if it is determined that the received content contains material controlled by the control parameters.

87. The system of claim 83, wherein means for implementing a parental control profile on the mobile device based on the received parent-user parental control parameters to limit accesses to one or more mobile device functions comprises:

means for requiring authorization prior to permitting a designated action comprising;

means for monitoring the mobile device to determine if a designated action has been initiated;

means for sending a message to an authorized user to determine if the designated action is authorized if it is determined that the designated action has been initiated;

means for receiving a message indicating whether the designated action is authorized; and

means for performing the designated action if the received message authorizes the designated action.

88. The system of claim 87, wherein means for designated action is receiving a text message from a source not listed in an address book of the mobile device.

89. The system of claim 88, wherein the wherein the designated action is granting a new user access to an online social network.

90. The system of claim 63, wherein:

the mobile device is a mobile phone; and

the communication network is a cellular communication network.

91. A mobile device, comprising:

a display;

an internal memory; and

a processor coupled to the display and the internal memory, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising;

receiving parental control parameters from a parental control server;

storing the received parental control parameters in the internal memory;

implementing the parental control parameters in the mobile device;

receiving third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions from the parental control server, the context-based conditions identifying at least one condition for implementing the received third-party access control parameters;

storing the received third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions in the internal memory;

determining whether a context-based condition is satisfied;

modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

92. The mobile device of claim 91, wherein the processor is configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations further comprising:

monitoring context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied; and

implementing the reverted parental control profile on the mobile device.

93. The mobile device of claim 92, wherein the context is a particular time of day and the context-based condition is satisfied only during the particular time of day.

94. The mobile device of claim 92, wherein the context is a particular location and the context-based condition is satisfied only if the mobile is physically inside the particular location.

95. The mobile device of claim 92, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

96. The mobile device of claim 92, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

97. The mobile device of claim 92, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

98. The mobile device of claim 91, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

99. The mobile device of claim 91, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

100. The mobile device of claim 91, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

101. The mobile device of claim 100, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

102. The mobile device of claim 100, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on time.

103. The mobile device of claim 100, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content on the mobile device by:

receiving a request for third party content;

determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile;

forwarding the request for content to a remote server if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile;

awaiting a response from the remote server; and

accessing the third party content only if a response is received from the remote server indicating that such access is permitted.

104. The mobile device of claim 91, wherein:

the mobile device is a mobile phone; and

the communication network is a cellular communication network.

118. The mobile device of claim 104, wherein:

the mobile device is a mobile phone; and

the communication network is a cellular communication network.

105. A mobile device, comprising:

means for receiving parental control parameters from a parental control server;

means for storing the received parental control parameters in the internal memory;

means for implementing the parental control parameters in the mobile device;

means for receiving third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions from the parental control server, the context-based conditions identifying at least one condition for implementing the received third-party access control parameters;

means for storing the received third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions in the internal memory;

means for determining whether a context-based condition is satisfied;

means for modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

means for implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

106. The mobile device of claim 105, further comprising:

means for monitoring context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

means for reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied; and

means for implementing the reverted parental control profile on the mobile device.

107. The mobile device of claim 106, wherein the context is a particular time of day and the context-based condition is satisfied only during the particular time of day.

108. The mobile device of claim 106, wherein the context is a particular location and the context-based condition is satisfied only if the mobile is physically inside the particular location.

109. The mobile device of claim 106, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

110. The mobile device of claim 106, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

111. The mobile device of claim 106, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

112. The mobile device of claim 105, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

113. The mobile device of claim 105, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

114. The mobile device of claim 105, wherein at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

115. The mobile device of claim 114, wherein restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

116. The mobile device of claim 114, wherein means for restricting the Internet browsing function comprises means for limiting access to Internet browsing based on time.

117. The mobile device of claim 114, wherein means for restricting the Internet browsing function comprises means for controlling content on the mobile device comprising:

means for receiving a request for third party content;

means for determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile;

means for forwarding the request for content to a remote server if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile;

means for awaiting a response from the remote server; and

means for accessing the third party content only if a response is received from the remote server indicating that such access is permitted.

119. A non-transitory processor readable medium having stored thereon processor-executable instructions configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving parental control parameters from a parental control server;

storing the received parental control parameters in the internal memory;

implementing the parental control parameters in the mobile device;

receiving third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions from the parental control server, the context-based conditions identifying at least one condition for implementing the received third-party access control parameters;

storing the received third-party access control parameters and context-based conditions in the internal memory;

determining whether a context-based condition is satisfied;

modifying the parental control profile in the mobile device by overriding one or more of the parent-user parental control parameters with the third party parental parameters if the context-based condition is satisfied; and

implementing the modified parental control profile on the mobile device to modify access to one or more limited mobile device functions.

120. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 119, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations further comprising:

monitoring context to determine if the context-based condition remains satisfied;

reverting the parental control profile by removing the third-party parental control parameters if the context-based condition is no longer satisfied; and

implementing the reverted parental control profile on the mobile device.

121. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 120, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that the context is a particular time of day and the context-based condition is satisfied only during the particular time of day.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 120, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that the context is a particular location and the context-based condition is satisfied only if the mobile is physically inside the particular location.

123. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 120, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a texting function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the texting function on the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 120, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts an Internet browsing function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the Internet browsing on the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 120, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a camera function on the mobile device and at least one third-party parental control parameter enables the camera on the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 119, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on time.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 119, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter restricts a mobile device function based on a location of the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 119, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that at least one parent-user parental control parameter comprises restricting an Internet browsing function on the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 128, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on one of a time and a location of the mobile device.

The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 128, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises limiting access to Internet browsing based on time.

131. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 128, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause a mobile device processor to perform operations such that restricting the Internet browsing function comprises controlling content on the mobile device by:

receiving a request for third party content;

determining whether the requested content is controlled by the parental control profile;

forwarding the request for content to a remote server if it is determined that the requested content is not restricted by the parental control profile;

awaiting a response from the remote server; and

accessing the third party content only if a response is received from the remote server indicating that such access is permitted.

132. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 119, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to operate on a processor of a mobile phone, and wherein the communication network is a cellular communication network.
