Abstract

A dosimetry device includes at least one sensor in a housing and a dosimetry processing device with a memory. The dosimtery processing device is coupled to the at least one sensor in the housing. The dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory comprising: obtaining readings from the sensor; storing the readings; conducting an analysis of the stored readings to determine an injury risk assessment; and outputting at least one of the conducted analysis of the determined injury risk assessment or the stored readings.

Claims

1. A dosimetry device comprising:

at least one sensor; and

a dosimetry processing device with a memory coupled to the at least one sensor in the housing, the dosimetry processing device configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory comprising obtaining readings from the at least one sensor, storing the readings, conducting an analysis of the stored readings to determine an injury risk assessment, and outputting at least one of the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment or the stored readings.

The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the obtaining further comprising obtaining a time and date stamp with each of the obtained readings and the storing further comprises storing the time and date stamp with each of the obtained readings.

3. The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the at least one sensor is a pressure sensor.

4. The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the sensor is an accelerometer.

5. The device as set forth in claim 4 wherein the accelerometer is a three-axis accelerometer.

6. The device as set forth in claim 4 wherein the accelerometer is configured to obtain linear acceleration readings in real time.

7. The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the sensor is a gyroscope.

8. The device as set forth in claim 7 wherein the gyroscope is configured to obtain rotational acceleration readings.

9. The device as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:

a power source coupled to the dosimetry processing device and

an energy harvester device coupled to the power source.

10. The device as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:

a display device coupled to the dosimetry processing device; and

an engagement device coupled to the dosimetry processing device, wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory further comprising providing at least one of the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment on the display device in response to an activation of the engagement device or a request received by an interface device coupled on the dosimetry processing device.

The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the conducting further comprising adjusting one or more criteria relating to the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment based on obtained individual data.

12. The device as set forth in claim 11 where the individual data comprises at least one of individual medical history data or individual injury history data.

The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the conducting further comprising adjusting one or more criteria relating to the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment based on obtained historical medical data.

14. The device as set forth in claim 1 wherein the at least one sensor further comprises multiple sensors and wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the conducting further comprising conducting an analysis of the stored readings from the multiple sensors to determine an injury risk assessment.

15. A method for using at least one dosimetry device, the method comprising:

securing at least one dosimetry device to one or more different locations on an object, the at least one dosimetry device comprising a dosimetry processing device with a memory coupled to at least one of sensor in a housing;

obtaining, by the at least one dosimetry device, readings from the at least one sensor;

storing, by the at least one dosimetry device, the readings;

conducting, by the at least one dosimetry device, an analysis of the stored readings to determine an injury risk assessment; and

outputting, by the at least one dosimetry device, at least one of the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment or the stored readings.

The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the dosimetry processing method is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the obtaining further comprising obtaining a time and date stamp with each of the obtained readings and the storing further comprises storing the time and date stamp with each of the obtained readings.

17. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the at least one sensor is a pressure sensor.

18. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the sensor is an accelerometer.

19. The method as set forth in claim 18 wherein the accelerometer is a three-axis accelerometer.

20. The method as set forth in claim 18 wherein the accelerometer is configured to obtain linear acceleration readings in real time.

21. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the sensor is a gyroscope.

22. The method as set forth in claim 21 wherein the gyroscope is configured to obtain rotational acceleration readings.

23. The method as set forth in claim 15 further comprising recharging, by the at least one dosimetry device, a power source coupled to the dosimetry processing device from an energy harvester device coupled to the power source.

24. The method as set forth in claim 15 further comprising supplementing power to the at least one dosimetry device from an energy harvester device coupled to the power source.

25. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the dosimetry processing method is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory further comprising activating, by the at least one dosimetry device, the outputting based on at least one of a detected activation of an engagement device coupled to the dosimetry processing device or a request received by an interface device coupled on the dosimetry processing device.

26. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the conducting further comprising adjusting, by the at least one dosimetry device, one or more criteria relating to the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment based on obtained historical medical data.

27. The method as set forth in claim 26 where the individual data comprises at least one of individual medical history data or individual injury history data.

28. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the conducting further comprising adjusting, by the at least one dosimetry device, one or more criteria relating to the conducted analysis of the injury risk assessment based on obtained historical medical data.

29. The method as set forth in claim 15 wherein the at least one sensor further comprises multiple sensors and wherein the conducting further comprises conducting, by the at least one dosimetry device, an analysis of the stored readings from the multiple sensors to determine an injury risk assessment.

30. A dosimetry device comprising:

at least one sensor;

a global positioning device coupled to the dosimetry processing device and

a dosimetry processing device with a memory coupled to the at least one sensor and the global positioning device in the housing, the dosimetry processing device configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory comprising obtaining readings from the at least one sensor, storing the readings, storing location data from the global positioning device with the obtained readings, and outputting the stored readings with the location data.

The device as set forth in claim 30 further comprising a transceiver coupled to the dosimetry processing device, wherein the dosimetry processing device is configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory for the outputting further comprising transmitting the stored readings with the location data to a designated location.

32. A method for using at least one dosimetry device, the method comprising:

securing at least one dosimetry device to one or more different locations on an object, the at least one dosimetry device comprising a dosimetry processing device with a memory coupled to at least one sensor in a housing;

obtaining, by the at least one dosimetry device, readings from the at least one sensor;

storing, by the at least one dosimetry device, location data from the global positioning device with the obtained readings; and

outputting, by the at least one dosimetry device, the stored readings and the location data

33. The method as set forth in claim 32 further comprising transmitting the stored readings with the location data to a designated location with a transceiver coupled to the dosimetry processing device.

34. A dosimetry device comprising:

at least one of sensor;

a non-user replaceable and non-rechargeable power source; and

a dosimetry processing device with a memory coupled to the at least one sensor and the non-user replaceable and non rechargeable power source in the housing, the dosimetry processing device configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory comprising obtaining readings from the at least one of sensor, storing the readings, and outputting the stored readings.

35. A method for making a dosimetry device comprising:

providing at least one of sensor;

providing a non-user replaceable and non-rechargeable power source; and

coupling a dosimetry processing device with a memory to the at least one sensor and the non-user replaceable and non rechargeable power source in the housing, the dosimetry processing device configured to execute programmed instructions stored in the memory comprising obtaining readings from the at least one of sensor, storing the readings, and outputting the stored readings.
