1. A method for conducting a payment transaction using a mobile communication device, the method comprising:

  • maintaining a mobile application in a mobile communication device memory associated with a mobile communication device;

    conducting a data exchange by executing the mobile application using a mobile communication device processor included in the mobile communication device, wherein the data exchange is conducted between the mobile communication device and a management server, wherein the management server permits a user associated with the mobile application running on the mobile communication device to conduct a near field communication contactless payment transaction as a result of the data exchange, wherein the mobile communication device includes a mobile communication device wireless transceiver configured to support a first communication channel;

    wherein the mobile communication device is associated with a secure element, the secure element including a secure element memory, a secure element processor, and a secure element wireless transceiver configured to support a second communication channel, wherein the secure element memory is configured to maintain a payment application and payment credentials, wherein the payment application is executed by the secure element processor in response to detection of a near field communication induction-based trigger by a point-of-sale terminal and execution of the payment application facilitates transfer of the payment credentials to the point-of-sale terminal using the second communication channel, wherein the second communication channel is different from the first communication channel.
