Abstract

The disclosed subject matter provides for selecting a radio access technology resource based on historical data related to the radio access technology resource. Location information can be employed to determine a radio access technology resource. Historical information related to the radio access technology resource can then be employed to determine the suitability of the radio access technology resource. A set of radio access technology resources can be ordered or ranked to allow selection of a suitable radio access technology resource from the set. Incorporation of historical information can provide for additional metrics in the selection of a radio access technology resource over simple contemporaneous radio access technology resource information. In some embodiments timed fingerprint location (TFL) information can be employed to determine a location.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a location determination component configured to determine a location of a user equipment; and

a radio access technology analysis component configured to associate a value with a radio access technology resource that satisfies a predetermined condition relating to historical information associated with the radio access technology resource, the radio access technology resource covering the location of the user equipment.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the location determination component is further configured to determine secondary location information, secondary location information including direction and speed.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the secondary location information is determined from a first location correlated with a first time and a second location correlated with a second time.

4. The system of claim 2, wherein the location determination component employs the secondary location information to determine a potential future location of the user equipment.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the radio access technology resource is covering the potential future location of the user equipment.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the location determination component employs timed fingerprint location information to determine the location of the user equipment.

7. The system of claim 1, further comprising a decision engine component configured to determine the satisfaction of a condition of a radio access technology resource based on historical information relating to the radio access technology resource.

9. The system of claim 1, further comprising a radio access technology historic information component configured to receive historical information associated with a radio access technology resource.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the historical information includes historic access sustainability information for a radio access technology resource, wherein access sustainability information includes information associated with the lifespan of a successful connection to a radio access technology resource.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the historical information includes historic availability information for a radio access technology resource, wherein the historic availability information facilitates a determination of anticipated availability of a radio access technology resource at the location without requiring powering on of a radio of the user equipment.

12. The system of claim 1, further comprising a radio access technology condition component configured to receive contemporaneous information associated with a radio access technology resource, wherein the radio access technology analysis component is further configured to associate the value with a radio access technology resource that satisfies a predetermined condition relating to historical information associated with the radio access technology resource and the contemporaneous information associated with a radio access technology resource, the radio access technology resource covering the location of the user equipment.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the value is a rank value for the radio access technology resource to facilitate ranking set of radio access technology resources in accordance with a ranking schema.

8. The system of claim 8, further comprising a rule component configured to receive a rule associated with determining the satisfaction of a condition of a radio access technology resource.

14. A method, comprising:

receiving location information associated with a user equipment; and

selecting a radio access technology resource from a radio access technology resource determined to cover at the received location based on the received location information.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising receiving historic information associated with a radio access technology resource based on the received location information, and wherein the selecting a radio access technology resource is further based on the received historic information.

16. The method of claim 14, further comprising receiving contemporaneous radio access technology resource information, and wherein the selecting a radio access technology resource is further based on the received contemporaneous radio access technology resource information.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the receiving location information includes receiving timed fingerprint location information.

18. A computing device comprising a processor, the processor configured to:

receive location information associated with a user equipment;

process the location information to determine historical information related to a radio access technology resource;

designate a value for a radio access technology resource based on the historical information; and

select a radio access technology resource from a set of radio access technology resources based on the designated value.

19. The computing device of claim 18, wherein the location information includes timed fingerprint location information.

20. The computing device of claim 18, wherein the predetermined condition is related to a predicted future location of the user equipment.
