Abstract

Providing location information to a supervisory user includes providing a parental control, using a computer automatically to determine a location of a subordinate user, and storing location information indicative of the location of the subordinate user in a database. A request of the supervisory user to locate the subordinate user is received and a user interface informs the supervisory user of the location of the subordinate user based on the stored location information. At least one of the storing and/or the informing are based on the parental control.

90. A method for monitoring and providing information, the method comprising:

receiving, from a first user, an indication to monitor a second user at a geographic location;

receiving parental control information comprising a black list indicative of one or more online locations disapproved for visitation by the second user;

monitoring, using at least one processor, online locations accessed by the second user at the geographic location; and

informing the first user that the second user at the geographic location accessed at least one disapproved online location based on the parental control information.

91. The method of claim 90, wherein the parental control information provides at least an indication of textual information associated with the one or more online locations on the black list.

92. The method of claim 90, wherein the geographic location comprises at least one of a physical address, latitude and longitude, or a name associated with a physical location.

93. The method of claim 90, wherein the online location comprises at least one of an IP address, a domain name, or a URL address.

94. The method of claim 90, further comprising:

providing an indication of a device used by the second user to access the at least one disapproved online location.

95. The method of claim 90, wherein the online location comprises at least one of a television channel or a television program identification.

96. The method of claim 90, further comprising:

enabling the first user to access the online location of the second user.

98. A computer-readable medium having stored thereon executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive, from a first user, an indication to monitor a second user at a geographic location;

receive parental control information comprising a black list indicative of one or more online locations disapproved for visitation by the second user;

monitor online locations accessed by the second user at the geographic location; and

inform the first user that the second user at the geographic location accessed at least one disapproved online location based on the parental control information.

99. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the parental control information provides at least an indication of textual information associated with the one or more online locations on the black list.

100. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the geographic location comprises at least one of a physical address, latitude and longitude, or a name associated with a physical location.

101. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the online location comprises at least one of an IP address, a domain name, or a URL address.

102. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to:

provide an indication of a device used by the second user to access the at least one disapproved online location.

103. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the online location comprises at least one of a television channel or a television program identification.

104. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to:

enable the first user to access the online location of the second user.

105. The computer-readable medium of claim 98, wherein the first user provides the indication based on a contact list associated with the first user.

106. A system for monitoring and providing information comprising:

a processor; and

a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to;

receive, from a first user, an indication to monitor a second user at a geographic location;

receive parental control information comprising a black list indicative of one or more online locations disapproved for visitation by the second user;

monitor online locations accessed by the second user at the geographic location; and

inform the first user that the second user at the geographic location accessed at least one disapproved online location based on the parental control information.

107. The system of claim 106, wherein the parental control information provides at least an indication of textual information associated with the one or more online locations on the black list.

108. The system of claim 106, wherein the geographic location comprises at least one of a physical address, latitude and longitude, or a name associated with a physical location.

109. The system of claim 106, wherein the online location comprises at least one of an IP address, a domain name, or a URL address.

110. The system of claim 106, wherein the memory further stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

provide an indication of a device used by the second user to access the at least one disapproved online location.

111. The system of claim 106, wherein the online location comprises at least one of a television channel or a television program identification.

112. The system of claim 106, wherein the memory further stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

enable the first user to access the online location of the second user.

113. The system of claim 106, wherein the first user provides the indication based on a contact list associated with the first user.
