Abstract

A device for fixing a segment of tubing in the form of a loop, for an apparatus by which a fluid is fed to or out from a patient via tubing, in particular for monitoring vascular access in extra-corporeal blood treatment, and a tubing and an arrangement for monitoring, each having the device for fixing the segment, are also described. The fixing of the segment includes a guiding piece and a securing piece. The guiding piece fixes intersecting portions of the segment which forms an eye, thereby forming a loop which contracts under a tractive stress. The securing piece fixes a portion of the segment forming the eye such that when the loop tightens, that portion of the segment does not slip through the guiding piece. Alternatively, intersecting portions of the segment are fixed in a loop only by a guiding piece formed as an annular body.

Claims

1. A device for fixing a segment of tubing in a form of a loop, for an apparatus by which a fluid is fed to a patient or fed out from the patient via tubing, a pressure in the tubing being monitored to monitor an access to the patient, in particular for monitoring a vascular access in extra-corporeal blood treatment in which a patient'"'"'s blood is fed to the patient via venous tubing which has a venous puncturing canula and is fed out from the patient via arterial tubing which has an arterial puncturing canula, the device comprising:

a guiding piece taking a form of an annular body configured for fixing intersecting portions of the segment of tubing which forms an eye, such that the eye forms the loop, which contracts under tractive stress, and

a securing piece configured for fixing a portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions, such that when the loop tightens, the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions does not slip through the guiding piece.

2. The device according to claim 1, wherein the guiding piece is configured such that the guiding piece can be folded open to allow the tubing to be inserted and can be closed again once the tubing has been inserted.

The device according to claim 1, wherein the guiding piece comprises two part-pieces, with a first end of a first part-piece and a first end of a second part-piece being connected together to be movable, and a second end of the first part-piece and a second end of the second part-piece being configured to be connected together by one of latching and snapping in.

4. The device according to claim 3, wherein the first end of the first part-piece of the guiding piece and the first end of the second part-piece of the guiding piece are connected together to be movable by one of a hinge and a film hinge.

5. The device according to claim 1, wherein the securing piece takes a form of an annular body.

6. The device according to claim 5, wherein the securing piece is configured such that the securing piece can be folded open to allow the tubing to be inserted and can be closed again once the tubing has been inserted.

The device according to claim 6, wherein the securing piece comprises two part-pieces, with a first end of a first part-piece and a first end of a second part-piece being connected together to be movable, and a second end of the first part-piece and a second end of the second part-piece being configured to be connected together by one of latching and snapping in.

8. The device according to claim 7, wherein the first end of the first part-piece of the securing piece and the first end of the second part-piece of the securing piece are connected together to be movable by one of a hinge and a film hinge.

9. The device according to claim 1, wherein the securing piece takes a form of an elongated body, with ends of the elongated body being fastened to the guiding piece such that the ends of the elongated body can be displaced along the guiding piece.

10. The device according to claim 9, wherein at least one end of the elongated body forming the securing piece is releasably fastened to the guiding piece to be movable.

11. A tubing for feeding a fluid one of to and out of a patient, comprising:

one of (a) venous tubing of an extra-corporeal blood circuit which venous tubing has a venous puncturing canula, and (b) arterial tubing of the extra-corporeal blood circuit which arterial tubing has an arterial puncturing canula, and

the device according to claim 1.

An arrangement for monitoring at least one of an infeed of a fluid via tubing to a patient and an outfeed of the fluid from the patient, and in particular for monitoring a vascular access in extra-corporeal blood treatment in which a patient'"'"'s blood is fed to the patient via venous tubing which has a venous puncturing canula and is fed out from the patient via arterial tubing which has an arterial puncturing canula, the monitoring arrangement comprising:

a device configured for monitoring a pressure in the tubing such that if there is change in pressure that exceeds preset limits due to a tractive stress on the tubing, it is concluded that a canula on the tubing is slipping out, and

the device according to claim 1 for fixing the segment of tubing in the form of a loop.

The arrangement according to claim 13, wherein the intersecting portions of the segment of tubing which forms the eye are placed in the guiding piece, the eye thus forming the loop which contracts under a tractive stress, and the securing piece fixes a portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions, the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions thus not slipping through the guiding piece when the loop tightens.

16. A blood treatment apparatus, comprising:

an extra-corporeal blood circuit comprising arterial tubing having an arterial puncturing canula and venous tubing having a venous puncturing canula, and

the arrangement for monitoring the pressure in at least one of the arterial and venous tubing according to claim 13.

12. A tubing for feeding a fluid one of to and out of a patient, comprising:

one of (a) venous tubing of an extra-corporeal blood circuit which venous tubing has a venous puncturing canula, and (b) arterial tubing of the extra-corporeal blood circuit which arterial tubing has an arterial puncturing canula,

wherein intersecting portions of a segment of the tubing which forms an eye are fixed by a guiding piece taking a form of an annular body, the eye thus forming a loop which contracts under a tractive stress, and ends of the segment of tubing extending through the guiding piece from sides which are opposite from one another.

15. An arrangement for monitoring at least one of an infeed of a fluid via tubing to a patient and an outfeed of the fluid from the patient, and in particular for monitoring a vascular access in extra-corporeal blood treatment in which a patient'"'"'s blood is fed to the patient via venous tubing which has a venous puncturing canula and is fed out from the patient via arterial tubing which has an arterial puncturing canula, the monitoring arrangement comprising:

a device configured for monitoring a pressure in the tubing such that if there is change in pressure that exceeds preset limits due to a tractive stress on the tubing, it is concluded that a canula on the tubing is slipping out, and

a device for fixing a segment of tubing, the device having a guiding piece taking a form of an annular body for fixing intersecting portions of the segment of tubing which forms an eye, the eye thus forming a loop which contracts under a tractive stress.

17. A method of monitoring an access to a patient for at least one of an infeed of a fluid to and an outfeed of a fluid from a patient via tubing, and in particular of monitoring a vascular access in extra-corporeal blood treatment in which a patient'"'"'s blood is fed to the patient via venous tubing which has a venous puncturing canula and is fed out from the patient via arterial tubing which has an arterial puncturing canula, the method comprising:

monitoring a pressure in the tubing, and

fixing in a loop, by a guiding piece taking a form of an annular body, a segment of the tubing which forms an eye, the guiding piece enclosing intersecting portions of the segment of tubing which forms the eye.

18. The method according to claim 17, wherein ends of the segment of tubing are passed through the guiding piece from sides which are opposite from one another.

19. The method according to claim 17, wherein a kinked segment of the tubing is passed through the guiding piece, the eye being formed by the segment of tubing which is passed through the guiding piece, which eye is fixed by the guiding piece.

20. The method according to claim 19, further comprising:

fixing, by a securing piece, a portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions such that when the loop tightens, the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions does not slip through the guiding piece.

The method according to claim 20, wherein the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions is secured against slipping out of the guiding piece by the securing piece taking a form of an annular body which is placed around the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions.

The method according to claim 20, wherein the portion of the segment of tubing forming the eye which is situated between the intersecting portions is secured against slipping out of the guiding piece by the securing piece taking a form of an elongated body whose two ends are fastened to the guiding piece such that the ends of the elongated body are displaceable along the guiding piece.
