Abstract

A compact mobile variable angle vibrating screen with a suspension and dampening system configured to rapidly accommodate variable angles and exhibit acceptable vibration levels; especially during power up and power down surge vibration at the variable angles. The system comprises a group of bi-directional dual pivot leg vibration damper mechanisms, including nesting tubes, one with holes for receiving pins and the other with a semi-circular cutout at the bottom edge.

Claims

1. A variable slope vibrating screen for material processing comprising:

a support structure which is configured to be adjusted to variable angles;

a variable slope vibrating screen configured for sorting aggregate by size, said variable slope vibrating screen being supported at variable slopes by said support structure;

a discharge output configured for creating a pile of sorted aggregate; and

a hydraulic system configured to apply a biasing damping force which is directed for biasing a portion of said variable slope vibrating screen against a portion of said support structure, so as to reduce relative movement between said variable slope vibrating screen and said support structure.

2. The screen of claim 1 wherein the biasing damping force is at least partially directed downwardly.

3. The screen of claim 1 wherein said support structure comprises:

an outer adjustable support leg;

an inner adjustable support leg; and

a locking pin.

4. The screen of claim 1 wherein said hydraulic system comprises a cylinder which is cable of both forcibly extending and retracting.

5. The screen of claim 3 wherein said outer adjustable support leg comprises, at a bottom terminal end a half circle cut out for partially surrounding said locking pin when said locking pin is disposed in a predetermined hole in said inner adjustable support leg.

6. The screen of claim 1 further comprising an accumulator for maintaining said biasing damping force over a period of time, despite pressure reducing leaks in said hydraulic system.

7. The screen of claim 5 further comprising an accumulator for maintaining said biasing damping force over a period of time despite pressure reducing leaks in said hydraulic system.

8. A variable slope screen comprising:

a vibrating screen configured to sort material by size;

a tiltable screen base frame rigidly coupled to said vibrating screen;

a lower frame having a pivot point thereon where said tiltable screen base frame pivots with respect to said lower frame;

a first support leg coupled to said tiltable screen base frame;

a second support leg coupled to said lower frame;

means for adjusting a combined length characteristic of said first support leg and said second support leg; and

means for reducing slack between said first support leg and said second support leg during operation of said vibrating screen.

9. The screen of claim 8 wherein said means for adjusting a combined length comprises a plurality of holes and a locking pin.

10. The screen of claim 9 wherein said means for reducing slack comprises a hydraulic cylinder.

11. The screen of claim 10 wherein said first support leg is an outer leg which receives therein a portion of said second support leg.

12. The screen of claim 11 further comprising an accumulator for providing pressure for said hydraulic cylinder.

13. A method of supporting a variable slope screen comprising:

providing a base frame configured to receive a vibrating screen;

providing a lower frame with a pivot point for receiving said base frame in a non-rigid pivotable connection;

providing an extendable support coupled to said lower frame and said base frame for adjusting an angular orientation of said base frame to said lower frame;

lifting said base frame so as to increase a slope angle of said base frame;

adjusting a length characteristic of the extendable support;

supporting said base frame upon said pivot point and said extendable support without the continued use of hydraulic power; and

compressing said extendable support to reduce slack therein by applying a substantially downward force on said base member.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein said step of supporting said base frame comprises the steps of:

inserting a locking pin through one of a plurality of holes in a support leg and allowing said frame base to rest upon said locking pin.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein said step of compressing comprises the step of pulling said base frame toward said lower frame with a hydraulic cylinder and thereby compressing said extendable support.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising the steps of:

providing an accumulator in a hydraulic circuit containing said hydraulic cylinder, said accumulator configured for maintaining pressure in said hydraulic cylinder.

17. The method of claim 14 wherein said step of providing an extendable support comprises the step of providing an upper outer support leg and a lower inner support leg.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein said upper outer support leg has an opening at a bottom edge thereof in registration with and configured for cooperating with said locking pin.

19. The method of claim 18 wherein said step of lifting and said step of compressing is by performed the same hydraulic cylinder.

20. The method of claim 18 wherein said opening at a bottom edge is a half circle cut out along where the half circle portion rests upon said locking pin to support the base frame in an elevated position.
