Abstract

A system and a method that employs Extended Access Barring (EAB) when a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device performs an attempt to access an evolved Node B (eNB) in a wireless communication system are provided. When User Equipment (UE) supporting MTC, an MTC device, performs an attempt to access a network, the system and method determines whether it can access the network and performs the access procedure. The system and method can control the operations of UE that performs an attempt to access a network, thereby preventing excessive access.

Claims

1. An access control method of a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

determining whether a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection establishment corresponds to a Cause 1 or a Cause 2;

establishing, if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 1, the RRC connection so that the RRC connection is not subject to an Extended Access Baring (EAB) procedure; and

determining, if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 2, whether to employ the EAB procedure according to an establishment of a System Information Block (SIB) transmitted from an evolved Node B (eNB), and employing the EAB procedure according to the determination.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining whether to employ an Access Class Barring (ACB) procedure according to the establishment of the SIB transmitted from the eNB; and

employing the ACB procedure according to the determination.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

requesting, if the access is not barred, the RRC connection establishment from the eNB.

4. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

employing the ACB procedure if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 2 and the access is not barred by the EAB.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the Cause 1 comprises at least one of:

a case where a User Equipment (UE) performs an access attempt to receive a call;

a case where the UE performs an emergency call; and

a case where the UE performs an access attempt with a high priority.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the Cause 2 comprises at least one of:

a case where a User Equipment (UE) performs an access attempt to make a call to transmit data;

a case where the UE performs an access attempt to make a call to transmit a control message; and

a case where the UE performs an access attempt to make a call irrespective of a transmission delay.

7. A Machine Type Communication (MTC) device for controlling access to an evolved Node B (eNB) in a wire communication system, the MTC device comprising:

a transceiver for transmitting and receiving signals to and from the eNB; and

a controller,

wherein the controller;

determines whether a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection establishment corresponds to a Cause 1 or a Cause 2;

controls to establish, if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 1, the RRC connection so that the RRC connection is not subject to an Extended Access Baring (EAB) procedure; and

determines, if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 2, whether to employ the EAB procedure according to an establishment of a System Information Block (SIB) transmitted from the eNB, and employing the EAB procedure according to the determination.

8. The MTC device of claim 7, wherein the controller determines whether to employ an Access Class Barring (ACB) procedure according to the establishment of the SIB transmitted from the eNB, and employs the ACB procedure according to the determination.

9. The MTC device of claim 8, wherein the controller requests, if the access is not barred, the RRC connection establishment from the eNB.

10. The MTC device of claim 8, wherein the controller employs the ACB procedure if the RRC connection establishment corresponds to the Cause 2 and the access is not barred by the EAB.

11. The MTC device of claim 7, wherein the Cause 1 comprises at least one of:

a case where User Equipment (UE) performs an access attempt to receive a call;

a case where the UE performs an emergency call; and

a case where the UE performs an access attempt with a high priority.

12. The MTC device of claim 7, wherein the Cause 2 comprises at least one of the following:

a case where a User Equipment (UE) performs an access attempt to make a call to transmit data;

a case where the UE performs an access attempt to make a call to transmit a control message; and

a case where the UE performs an access attempt to make a call irrespective of a transmission delay such as an MTC service.
