Abstract

In a method, system, and computer-readable medium having instructions for a reverse benefits designer, one or more objects available for creating a plan design framework are displayed in a graphical user interface, an indication of an object from the one or more objects selected for placement in a hierarchy of the plan design framework depicted on the graphical user interface is received, and data is stored in a repository for the plan design framework in accordance with the object placement.

Claims

1. A method for a reverse benefits designer, the method comprising:

displaying one or more objects available for creating a plan design framework in a graphical user interface;

receiving an indication of an object from the one or more objects selected for placement in a hierarchy of the plan design framework depicted on the graphical user interface; and

storing data in a repository for the plan design framework in accordance with the object placement.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining from the object placement in the hierarchy whether the object inherits attributes from one or more related objects; and

storing data in the repository for the object to capture one or more inherited attributes for the object.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining from the object placement in the hierarchy whether one or more related objects inherit attributes from the object; and

storing data in the repository for one or more inherited attributes for the one or more objects.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the data stored in the repository for the plan design framework is used for execution of a benefits plan software application.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the indication of an object selected for placement in the hierarchy comprises dragging and dropping an icon for an object onto the user interface.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving information for the plan design framework previously saved for a user; and

determining the one or more objects available for creating the plan design framework for the user based upon the information.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

performing validation on objects selected for the plan design framework using a set of rules for objects.

8. A computer readable storage medium having one or more instructions thereon for a reverse benefits designer, the instructions when executed by one or more processors causing the one or more processors to carry out:

displaying one or more objects available for creating a plan design framework in a graphical user interface;

receiving an indication of an object from the one or more objects selected for placement in a hierarchy of the plan design framework depicted on the graphical user interface; and

storing data in a repository for the plan design framework in accordance with the object placement.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, the instructions when executed by one or more processors causing the one or more processors to further carry out:

determining from the object placement in the hierarchy whether the object inherits attributes from one or more related objects; and

storing data in the repository for the object to capture one or more inherited attributes for the object.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, the instructions when executed by one or more processors causing the one or more processors to further carry out:

determining from the object placement in the hierarchy whether one or more related objects inherit attributes from the object; and

storing data in the repository for one or more inherited attributes for the one or more objects.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the data stored in the repository for the plan design framework is used for execution of a benefits plan software application.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, wherein the indication of an object selected for placement in the hierarchy comprises dragging and dropping an icon for an object onto the user interface.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, the instructions when executed by one or more processors causing the one or more processors to further carry out:

receiving information for the plan design framework previously saved for a user; and

determining the one or more objects available for creating the plan design framework for the user based upon the information.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8, the instructions when executed by one or more processors causing the one or more processors to further carry out:

performing validation on objects selected for the plan design framework using a set of rules for objects.

15. An apparatus comprising:

one or more processors; and

logic encoded in one or more tangible media for execution by the one or more processors and when executed operable to;

display one or more objects available for creating a plan design framework in a graphical user interface;

receive an indication of an object from the one or more objects selected for placement in a hierarchy of the plan design framework depicted on the graphical user interface; and

store data in a repository for the plan design framework in accordance with the object placement.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the logic when executed is further operable to:

determine from the object placement in the hierarchy whether the object inherits attributes from one or more related objects; and

store data in the repository for the object to capture one or more inherited attributes for the object.

17. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the logic when executed is further operable to:

determine from the object placement in the hierarchy whether one or more related objects inherit attributes from the object; and

store data in the repository for one or more inherited attributes for the one or more objects.

18. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the data stored in the repository for the plan design framework is used for execution of a benefits plan software application.

19. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the indication of an object selected for placement in the hierarchy comprises dragging and dropping an icon for an object onto the user interface.

20. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the logic when executed is further operable to:

receive information for the plan design framework previously saved for a user; and

determine the one or more objects available for creating the plan design framework for the user based upon the information.
