wherein the electrode includes an electrode plate, a conductive layer formed on the electrode plate, and an active material layer formed continuously on the electrode plate and on the conductive layer, wherein the electrode plate includes an uncoated region where a surface of the electrode plate is exposed, wherein the active material layer includes an active material layer spreading part, and wherein an edge of the active material layer on the uncoated region side is located closer to the uncoated region side than an edge of the conductive layer in the active material layer spreading part, the method comprising a step of specifying, with an optical position detection unit, a position in the active material layer spreading part at which the active material layer is located.
