Abstract

A device for making a carbon nanotube film includes a substrate having a surface, and two substantially parallel slits defined on the surface of the substrate. The two substantially parallel slits extend into the substrate from the surface of the substrate. A growing surface is defined by the two substantially parallel slits and located between the two substantially parallel slits.

Claims

1. A device for making a carbon nanotube film, the device comprising:

a substrate having a surface and two substantially parallel slits defined on the surface of the substrate, wherein the two substantially parallel slits extend into the substrate from the surface of the substrate, a growing surface is defined by the two substantially parallel slits and located between the two substantially parallel slits.

2. The device of claim 1, further comprising a catalyst layer on the growing surface.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the substrate is a circular substrate.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein a material of the substrate is glass, quartz, silicon, or aluminum oxide.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein a residual surface is located beyond the two substantially parallel slits, and the growing surface is separated from the residual surface 326 by the two parallel silts.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the catalyst layer is U-shaped.

7. A device for making a carbon nanotube film, comprising:

a substrate having a surface and two first slits substantially parallel to each other defined on the surface of the substrate, and two second slits substantially parallel to each other defined on the surface of the substrate, wherein the two first slits and the two second slits extend into the substrate from the surface of the substrate, and a growing surface is defined by the two first slits and the two second slits.

8. The device of claim 7, wherein the two first slits are crossed with the two second slits.

9. The device of claim 8, wherein the catalyst layer is rectangular shaped.

10. The device of claim 7, wherein a material of the substrate is glass, quartz, silicon, or aluminum oxide.

11. The device of claim 7, wherein the substrate is a circular substrate.

12. The device of claim 7, wherein a residual surface is located beyond the two first and second slits, and the growing surface is separated from the residual surface by the two first slits and the two second slits.

13. A device for making a carbon nanotube film, comprising:

a substrate having a growing surface and a residual surface surrounding the growing surface, the growing surface is exposed out of the residual surface, wherein the growing surface having two parallel sides.

14. The device of claim 13, further comprising a catalyst layer on the growing surface.

15. The device of claim 13, wherein the substrate is a circular substrate.

16. The device of claim 13, wherein a material of the substrate is glass, quartz, silicon, or aluminum oxide.
