Abstract
A soybean cultivar designated S100316 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of soybean cultivar S100316, to the plants of soybean cultivar S100316, to the plant parts of soybean cultivar S100316, and to methods for producing progeny of soybean cultivar S100316. The invention also relates to methods for producing a soybean plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic soybean plants and plant parts produced by those methods. The invention also relates to soybean cultivars or breeding cultivars, and plant parts derived from soybean cultivar S100316. The invention also relates to methods for producing other soybean cultivars, lines, or plant parts derived from soybean cultivar S100316, and to the soybean plants, varieties, and their parts derived from use of those methods. The invention further relates to hybrid soybean seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by crossing cultivar S100316 with another soybean cultivar.

18. A method of introducing a desired trait into soybean cultivar S100316, wherein the method comprises:
-
(a) crossing a S100316 plant, wherein a representative sample of seed is deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______, with a plant of another soybean cultivar that comprises a desired trait, wherein said desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, abiotic stress tolerance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism, modified seed yield, modified oil percent, modified protein percent, modified lodging resistance, modified shattering, modified iron-deficiency chlorosis and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease; (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait; (c) backcrossing the selected progeny plants with soybean cultivar S100316; (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait; and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) two or more times in succession to produce selected third or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22, 23)
