Abstract

A disposable medical gown (100) includes a body covering portion (101) and optionally one or more sleeves (107,108). The body covering portion (101) defines a head insertion aperture (104) between a frontal body covering portion (103) configured to cover a frontal body portion of a wearer and a rear portion (203) configured to cover at least parts of shoulder blades of the wearer. A torso opening (201) is disposed on a side of the rear portion (203) opposite the head insertion aperture (104), and extends distally from the rear portion (203). One or more perforations (202) extend across the rear portion (203) at least partially between the torso opening (202) and the head insertion aperture (104), and facilitate easy removal of the gown (100). A user removes the gown (100) by pulling the front portion (103), thereby tearing the perforations.

Claims

1. A gown, comprising:

a non-woven fabric layer defining a neck opening between a front portion and a rear portion, wherein a front portion length is greater than a rear portion length and the rear portion defines an opening configured to assist a user in donning the gown; and

one or more perforations extending across the rear portion at least partially between the opening and the neck opening, the one or more perforations being configured to tear and split the rear portion when the front portion is pulled away from the user.

The gown of claim 1, wherein the one or more perforations comprise at least two linear score lines, each linear score line comprising a plurality of perforations, with each of the plurality of perforations being arranged so as to extend along the rear portion so as to diagonally cross at least parts of shoulder blades of a wearer.

3. The gown of claim 2, further comprising:

sleeves extending distally away from an intersection of the front portion and the rear portion, each sleeve defining an arm insertion aperture; and

one or more additional perforations extending across the front portion, the one or more additional perforations extending diagonally between a head insertion aperture and the arm insertion aperture.

4. The gown of claim 3, wherein the sleeves terminate with a thumb loop configured to engage a saddle of a thumb of the wearer.

5. The gown of claim 2, wherein the plurality of perforations comprises a plurality of scores separated by lengths of material.

6. The gown of claim 5, wherein the plurality of scores are each about one inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one half inch long.

7. The gown of claim 6, wherein the plurality of scores comprises four scores.

8. The gown of claim 5, wherein the plurality of scores are each about three-quarters of an inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one quarter inch long.

9. The gown of claim 8, wherein the plurality of scores comprises nine scores.

10. The gown of claim 1, further comprising one or more tie members, wherein the one or more tie members comprise a first tie member disposed on a first side of the opening and a second tie member disposed on a second side of the opening.

11. The gown of claim 10, wherein the opening is non-closable and arranged so as to leave exposed at least a six-inch width of a backside of the wearer when the first tie member and the second tie member are tied together about a torso of a wearer.

12. The gown of claim 10, wherein the one or more tie members each comprise a score line extending across a width portion of the one or more tie members an interface of the one or more tie members with the non-woven fabric layer.

13. The gown of claim 12, wherein the score line is non-linear and measures between one and three inches.

14. The gown of claim 1, further comprising elastic gatherings, with an elastic gathering being disposed at an attachment interface between a tie member and the non-woven fabric layer, the elastic gatherings being disposed so as to gather portions of the non-woven fabric layer about a waist of a wearer.

15. The gown of claim 14, wherein the elastic gathering is integral with the tie member so as to form an axial extension of the tie member.

16. The gown of claim 14, wherein the elastic gatherings are each between one and three inches in length.

17. The gown of claim 1, further comprising an elastic strip disposed about at least a portion of the neck opening, the elastic strip being configured to gather the neck opening about a neck of a wearer.

18. The gown of claim 17, wherein the non-woven fabric layer is yellow.

19. A disposable medical gown, comprising:

a body covering portion defining a frontal body covering portion and a rear portion;

one or more tie members extending from the body covering portion; and

comprising elastic gatherings, with an elastic gathering being disposed at an attachment interface between a tie member and the body covering portion such that the tie member extends from the elastic gathering distally from the disposable medical gown, the elastic gatherings being disposed so as to gather portions of the body covering portion about a waist of a wearer.

20. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the elastic gathering is integral with the tie member so as to form an axial extension of the tie member.

21. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the one or more tie members comprise a first tie member disposed on a first side of a rear opening and a second tie member disposed on a second side of the rear opening.

22. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the elastic gatherings are each between one and three inches in length.

23. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the body covering portion defines an opening along the rear portion, further comprising one or more perforations extending across the rear portion at least partially between the opening and a head insertion aperture, wherein the one or more perforations are configured to tear when the frontal body covering portion is pulled away from the wearer, thereby splitting the rear portion.

24. The disposable medical gown of claim 23, wherein the one or more perforations comprise at least two linear score lines, each linear score line comprising a plurality of perforations, with each of the plurality of perforations being arranged so as to extend along the rear portion so as to diagonally cross at least parts of shoulder blades of the wearer.

25. The disposable medical gown of claim 24, wherein the plurality of perforations comprises a plurality of scores separated by lengths of material.

26. The disposable medical gown of claim 25, wherein the plurality of scores are each about one inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one half inch long.

27. The disposable medical gown of claim 26, wherein the plurality of scores comprises four scores.

28. The disposable medical gown of claim 25, wherein the plurality of scores are each about three-quarters of an inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one quarter inch long.

29. The disposable medical gown of claim 28, wherein the plurality of scores comprises nine scores.

30. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the frontal body covering portion is longer than the rear portion, thereby covering more of a wearer'"'"'s body in the front than the rear.

31. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the frontal body covering portion is be shorter than the rear portion, thereby covering less of a wearer'"'"'s body in the front than in the rear.

32. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, further comprising:

sleeves extending distally away from an intersection of the frontal body covering portion and the rear portion, each sleeve defining an arm insertion aperture; and

one or more additional perforations extending across the frontal body covering portion, the one or more additional perforations extending diagonally between a head insertion aperture and the arm insertion aperture.

33. The disposable medical gown of claim 32, wherein the sleeves terminate with a thumb loop configured to engage a saddle of a thumb of the wearer.

34. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, wherein the elastic gatherings are each between one and three inches in length.

35. The disposable medical gown of claim 19, further comprising an elastic strip disposed about at least a portion of a neck opening defined by the body covering portion, the elastic strip being configured to gather the neck opening about a neck of the wearer.

36. A method of wearing and removing a gown, comprising:

accessing the gown, the gown comprising;

a non-woven fabric layer defining a neck opening between a portion and a rear portion, wherein the rear portion defines an opening;

one or more perforations extending across the rear portion at least partially between the opening and the neck opening; and

one or more tie members extending each side of the opening;

passing a head through the neck opening;

tying the one or more tie members about a torso; and

pulling the non-woven fabric layer, thereby tearing the one or more perforations and splitting the non-woven fabric layer between the neck opening and the opening.

37. A disposable medical gown, comprising:

a body covering portion defining a frontal body covering portion and a rear portion; and

a plurality of perforations extending across the rear portion at least partially between a head insertion aperture and a rear opening;

wherein;

the plurality of perforations is configured to tear when the frontal body covering portion is pulled from a wearer, thereby splitting the rear portion;

the plurality of perforations comprises at least two sets of linear scores, each set of linear scores comprising a plurality of scores separated by lengths of material.

38. The disposable medical gown of claim 37, wherein the plurality of scores are each about one inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one half inch long.

39. The disposable medical gown of claim 38, wherein the plurality of scores comprises four scores.

40. The disposable medical gown of claim 37, wherein the plurality of scores are each about three-quarters of an inch long, further wherein the lengths of material are each about one quarter inch long.

41. The disposable medical gown of claim 40, wherein the plurality of scores comprises nine scores.
