Abstract

A device creates a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage, clears a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container, and stores a first data object in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage. The device receives a request to delete the first cloud storage container, sets a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container based on the request to delete the first cloud storage container, and deletes the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

creating a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage;

clearing a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container;

receiving a first data object for storing in the first cloud storage container;

storing the first data object in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage;

receiving a request to delete the first cloud storage container;

setting a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container;

disabling the first cloud storage container;

determining if the request to delete the first cloud storage container has been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period; and

deleting the first data object stored in the first cloud storage container and deleting the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

clearing the delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container and enabling the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the time period comprises a configurable time period.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

creating a second cloud storage container in a second region of cloud storage;

clearing a delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container;

receiving a second data object for storing in the second cloud storage container; and

storing the second data object in the second cloud storage container in the second region of cloud storage.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving a request to delete the second cloud storage container;

setting a delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container;

disabling the second cloud storage container;

determining if the request to delete the second cloud storage container has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period; and

deleting the second data object stored in the second cloud storage container and deleting the second cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

clearing the delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container and enabling the second cloud storage container if the request to delete has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

obtaining confirmation of the request to delete the first cloud storage container prior to setting the delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container and disabling the first cloud storage container.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein creating a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage comprises:

receiving selection of the first cloud storage region from multiple cloud storage regions;

receiving a name of the first cloud storage container; and

obtaining a user name and password for the first cloud storage container.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving the user name and password for the first cloud storage container prior to receiving a request to delete the first cloud storage container.

10. A device, comprising:

a communication interface coupled to a network;

a processing unit configured to

create a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage,

clear a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container,

store a first data object in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage,

receive, via the communication interface, a request to delete the first cloud storage container;

set a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container based on the request to delete the first cloud storage container, and

delete the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period.

11. The device of claim 10, where the processing unit is further configured to:

disable the first cloud storage container based on the request to delete the first cloud storage container.

12. The device of claim 10, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

clear the delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container and enable the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

13. The device of claim 10, wherein the time period comprises a configurable time period.

14. The device of claim 10, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

create a second cloud storage container in a second region of cloud storage,

clear a delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container, and

store a second data object in the second cloud storage container in the second region of cloud storage.

15. The device of claim 14, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

receive a request to delete the second cloud storage container;

set a delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container based on the request to delete;

determine if the request to delete the second cloud storage container has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period; and

delete the second data object stored in the second cloud storage container and deleting the second cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

16. The device of claim 15, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

disable the second cloud storage container based on the request to delete the second cloud storage container.

17. The device of claim 15, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

clear the delete flag associated with the second cloud storage container and enable the second cloud storage container if the request to delete has been rescinded prior to expiration of the time period.

18. The device of claim 11, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

obtain confirmation of the request to delete the first cloud storage container prior to setting the delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container and disabling the first cloud storage container.

19. The device of claim 10, wherein, when creating a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage, the processing unit is configured to:

receive selection of the first cloud storage region from multiple cloud storage regions,

receive a name of the first cloud storage container, and

obtain a user name and password for the first cloud storage container.

20. The device of claim 10, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

receive the user name and password for the first cloud storage container prior to receiving a request to delete the first cloud storage container.

21. A computer-readable medium containing instructions executable by at least one processor, the computer-readable medium comprising:

one or more instructions for creating a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage;

one or more instructions for clearing a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container;

one or more instructions for causing a first data object to be stored in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage;

one or more instructions for setting a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container based on receiving a request to delete the first cloud storage container, and

one or more instructions for deleting the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period.
