Abstract

A method is provide that comprises detecting an incoming or outgoing call; and sending data to a paired device for displaying a plurality of elements associated with the call in a user interface on the paired device prior to connecting the call, the plurality of elements having been obtained from a plurality of sources accessible to the mobile device. Another method is provided, which comprises receiving data from the mobile device for displaying a plurality of elements associated with the call in a user interface on a paired device prior to connecting the call, the plurality of elements having been obtained from a plurality of sources accessible to the mobile device; and displaying the plurality of elements in a user interface on the paired device using the data received from the mobile device.

Claims

1. A method of operating an electronic device, the method comprising:

detecting a first input in a first user interface;

displaying a second user interface comprising a first plurality of data items obtained from a plurality of sources, the first plurality of data items including a first data item associated with the first user interface and a second data item associated with a third user interface;

detecting a second input selecting the second data item in the second user interface;

displaying the third user interface;

detecting a third input which results in navigating away from the third user interface; and

displaying the second user interface.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting a fourth input which results in navigating away from the second user interface, and displaying the first user interface.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the fourth input comprises any one of:

selection of an option displayed in the second user interface;

a swipe gesture in the second user interface; and

selection of a button on the electronic device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the third input comprises any one of:

sending a message;

closing the third user interface; and

selection of a link displayed in the third user interface associated with an entity related to the first plurality of data items.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the entity related to the plurality of data items is any one of an individual, a group of individuals, and a group event.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the third user interface comprises a second plurality of data items obtained from a plurality of sources, the second plurality of data items being associated with a first entity different from a second entity associated with the second user interface.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein one of the first and second entities is an individual, and the other of the first and second entities is related to one of a group of individuals and a group event.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein prior to detecting the third input, the method further comprises:

detecting a fifth input selecting one of the second plurality of data items in the third user interface; and

displaying a fourth user interface.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of sources is remote from the electronic device.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the at least one source remote from the electronic device comprises a social networking server.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one of the first plurality of data items is obtained in real time from a respective source after detecting the first input.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the third user interface relates to a first messaging application, the method further comprising detecting a sixth input in the second user interface after detecting the third input, and displaying a fifth user interface related to a second messaging application.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first, second, and third user interfaces is displayed on another electronic device communicable with the electronic device.

14. A mobile device comprising a processor, memory, and a display, the memory comprising computer executable instructions for operating the mobile device to:

detect a first input in a first user interface;

display a second user interface comprising a first plurality of data items obtained from a plurality of sources, the first plurality of data items including a first data item associated with the first user interface and a second data item associated with a third user interface;

detect a second input selecting the second data item in the second user interface;

display the third user interface;

detect a third input which results in navigating away from the third user interface; and

display the second user interface.

15. A computer readable storage medium comprising computer executable instructions for operating a mobile device, the computer executable instructions comprising instructions for:

detecting a first input in a first user interface;

displaying a second user interface comprising a first plurality of data items obtained from a plurality of sources, the first plurality of data items including a first data item associated with the first user interface and a second data item associated with a third user interface;

detecting a second input selecting the second data item in the second user interface;

displaying the third user interface;

detecting a third input which results in navigating away from the third user interface; and

displaying the second user interface.
