1. A display device comprising:
- an electrode layer including a first electrode and a second electrode, the second electrode being opposed to the first electrode and having a plurality of openings extending in a same extending direction; and
a liquid crystal layer disposed on the electrode layer, liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to one side of the opening and liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to another side of the opening, the sides of the opening being opposed to each other in a width direction of the opening, being rotated in opposite directions from each other and aligned.

The liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to one side of the opening and liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to another side of the opening, the sides of the opening being opposed to each other in a width direction of the opening, are rotated in opposite directions from each other and aligned.

15. A method of manufacturing a display device, the method comprising:

forming an electrode layer including a first electrode and a second electrode, the second electrode being opposed to the first electrode and having a plurality of openings extending in a same extending direction; and forming a liquid crystal layer on the electrode layer after performing alignment treatment so that liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to one side of an opening and liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer in a region in proximity to another side of the opening, the sides of the opening being opposed to each other in a width direction of the opening, are rotated in opposite directions from each other and aligned.
