Abstract

An apparatus and method to control an application in a portable terminal are provided. A method to manage an application includes confirming control information that at least one application installed in the portable terminal requires, selecting the at least one application requiring control information whose use is restricted among a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal, and restricting a running of the selected at least one application.

Claims

1. A method to control an application in a portable terminal, the method comprising:

confirming a control information that at least one application installed in the portable terminal requires;

selecting at least one application requiring the control information whose use is restricted among a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal; and

restricting a running of the selected at least one application.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein confirming the control information further comprises:

confirming a control information that each application in the portable terminal requires in a database comprising information of an application installed in the portable terminal.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein restricting the running of the selected at least one application comprises:

restricting the running of service using the control information in the selected at least one application requiring the control information.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein restricting the running of the selected at least one application comprises:

deleting the selected at least one application requiring the control information.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

deleting information from a database that contains information of the selected at least one application installed in the portable terminal.

6. A method to install an application in a portable terminal, the method comprising:

confirming a control information that an application to be installed in the portable terminal requires; and

blocking the installation of the application when the application requires the control information whose use is restricted.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

installing the application when the application does not require the control information whose use is restricted; and

adding information of the installed application to a database comprising information of a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein confirming the control information comprises:

displaying an information of the application to be installed in the portable terminal on a display unit; and

confirming the control information that the application requires through a character recognition of the information of the application displayed on the display unit.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein blocking the installation of the application comprises:

checking if an automatic blocking menu against the application has been set to block the installation of the application when the application to be installed in the portable terminal requires the control information whose use is restricted; and

blocking the installation of the application when the automatic blocking menu against the application has been set.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

generating an alarm event and/or sound about the control information whose use is restricted when the automatic blocking menu against the application has not been installed.

11. A portable terminal, comprising:

a storage unit to store a control information that at least one application installed in the portable terminal requires; and

a controller to select the at least one application requiring the control information whose use is restricted among a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal, and restricting a running of the selected application.

The portable terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller confirms the control information that each application requires in the portable terminal in a database comprising the control information, which is stored in the storage unit, that the at least one application installed in the portable terminal requires.

13. The portable terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller restricts the running of service using the control information whose use is restricted in the selected application requiring the control information.

14. The portable terminal of claim 11, wherein the controller deletes the selected application requiring the control information whose use is restricted.

15. The portable terminal of claim 14, wherein, when deleting the selected application, the controller deletes information from a database of a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal.

16. A portable terminal, comprising:

a display unit to display information of an application to be installed in the portable terminal; and

a controller to confirm control information that the application to be installed in the portable terminal requires, and to block the installation of the application when the application requires control information whose use is restricted.

17. The portable terminal of claim 16, wherein, when the application does not require the control information whose use is restricted, the controller installs the application, and adds information of the installed application to a database comprising information of a plurality of applications installed in the portable terminal.

18. The portable terminal of claim 16, wherein the controller confirms the control information that the application requires through a character recognition of an information of the application displayed on the display unit.

19. The portable terminal of claim 16, wherein, when the application to be installed in the portable terminal requires the control information whose use is restricted, the controller checks if an automatic blocking menu against the application has been set, and blocks the installation of the application when the automatic blocking menu against the application has been set.

20. The portable terminal of claim 19, wherein, when the automatic blocking menu against the application has not been installed, the controller generates an alarm event and/or sound about the control information whose use is restricted.
