1. A method comprising:
- receiving payment credentials by using a secure element interface included in a secure element, the secure element including a secure element interface and a secure element mobile device connector, the secure element interface configured to read payment credentials from a credit card, debit card, or prepaid card, the secure element mobile device connector configured for physical insertion and mechanical connection into a slot of a mobile device, the mobile device including a mobile device display, a mobile device processor, a mobile device memory, and a mobile device radio transceiver configured for voice and data communications; and
transferring the payment credentials to the mobile device from the secure element, the mobile device running an operating system platform based mobile payment application that allows the mobile device to operate as a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, wherein the mobile payment application receives a request from a user to purchase an item, generates a payment authorization, and transmits the payment authorization to a remote server configured to authorize payment for the credit card, debit card, or prepaid card.

A method and system for conducting an online payment transaction through a point of sale device. The method includes receiving input from a user selecting an item for purchase through the point of sale device; calculating a total purchase amount for the item in response to a request from the user to purchase the item; and sending payment authorization for the total purchase amount from the point of sale device to a payment entity, in which the payment authorization is sent to the payment entity via a mobile communication device of the user. The method further includes receiving a result of the payment authorization from the payment entity through the mobile communication device; and completing the payment transaction based on the result of the payment authorization.
