Abstract

A drug calendar and reminder system is provided which allows for a user to be reminded when and how to take regularly scheduled drugs. The drug calendar and reminder system allows a user to input one or more drugs including their dosage instructions and schedule, and creates interactive reminders to facilitate the regular taking of these drugs. The drug calendar and reminder system can be further configured to receive content from content providers, such as drug interaction services, drug databases, doctors, and pharmacies such that a user can readily access information from these providers as needed. The drug calendar and reminder system can also be configured to compile the user'"'"'s drug information, and can be configured to allow content providers access to this information.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

presenting, via a display associated with a device, a first user interface to permit a user to specify a drug;

receiving, from the user via the first user interface, input defining the drug;

storing, in a memory associated with the device, the input defining the drug;

presenting, via the display associated with the device, a second user interface to permit a user to specify drug information, where the drug information includes;

a dosage time and a dosage condition;

receiving, from the user via the second user interface, input defining the drug information for the drug;

storing, in the memory associated with the device, the drug information for the drug;

receiving, by a processor of the device, an instruction from the user of the device to prepare a calendar using the input defining the drug and the drug information;

preparing, by the processor of the device, a calendar using the input defining the drug and the drug information;

receiving, by the processor of the device, an instruction to display the calendar; and

providing, on the display associated with the device, a graphical user interface of the calendar that includes a graphical representation of the drug and the information associated with the dosage time for the drug and the dosage condition for the drug in a visual calendar format.

2. The method of claim 1, where receiving, from the user via the first user interface, the input defining the drug includes:

presenting, via the first user interface, an interactive input area in which the user can enter a portion of a drug name;

receiving the portion of the drug name via the interactive input area;

presenting, via the first user interface, images of possible drugs based on the portion of the drug name; and

receiving a selection of the drug from the images of possible drugs presented via the first user interface.

3. The method of claim 1, where receiving, from the user via the first user interface, the input defining the drug includes presenting a first user interface that permits the user to select the drug along with the drug'"'"'s dosage time and dosage condition from a list or set of icons;

and

where receiving the drug information includes receiving a selection, from the list or set of icons in the first user interface, of the drug along with the drug'"'"'s dosage time and dosage condition.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an instruction from the user of the device to prepare a reminder using the input defining the drug and the drug information;

preparing the reminder associated with the drug based on the drug information;

receiving, by the processor of the device, an instruction to display the reminder; and

providing, on the display associated with the device, a graphical user interface reminder comprising the graphical representation of the drug, the information associated with the dosage time for the drug, and the dosage condition for the drug in a visual reminder format.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

receiving input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

storing the input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

preparing a revised calendar based on whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the revised calendar, that includes a graphical representation of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

receiving input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

storing the input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

preparing an additional reminder when the user specifies that the drug was partially taken or delayed; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the additional reminder, that includes a graphical representation of the selected drug image, the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition, and whether the drug was partially taken or delayed.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving input that the drug was partially taken;

presenting a fourth user interface to permit the user to specify which drug was partially taken;

receiving input indicating which drug was partially taken;

storing the input of which drug was partially taken;

preparing an additional reminder associated with the input of which drug was partially taken;

providing a graphical user interface, of the additional reminder, that includes a graphical representation of the partially taken drug and the drug information including the dosage time for the partially taken drug and the dosage condition for the partially taken drug in a visual reminder format;

preparing a revised calendar based on the input indicating which drug was partially taken; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the revised calendar, that includes a graphical representation of the partially taken drug and the drug information including the dosage time for the partially taken drug and the dosage condition for the partially taken drug in a visual calendar format.

8. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

presenting a visual notification reminder comprising the graphical representation of the drug and the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition for the drug via the display associated with the device, or

presenting an audible notification reminder associated with the drug and the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition for the drug via a speaker associated with the device.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving input defining whether the drug was taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

storing the input defining whether the drug was taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

preparing a revised calendar reflecting whether the drug was taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled; and

presenting a graphical user interface, of the revised calendar, that includes a graphical representation of the drug and the information associated with the dosage time for the drug and the dosage condition for the drug in a visual calendar format, where the revised calendar reflects whether the drug was taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled.

10. The method of claim 1, where receiving input defining the drug information for the drug further includes:

receiving, from a content provider, additional drug information including input including dosage time, dosage condition, and content provider information for the drug; and

where the providing the graphical user interface of the calendar further includes providing a graphical user interface of the calendar that includes a graphical representation of the content provider information for the drug in a visual calendar format, and where the content provider information includes drug interaction information from a drug interaction server, drug database information from a drug database server, medical information from a doctor server, or pharmacy drug information from a pharmacy server.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

compiling a list of the drug, dosage time, dosage condition, and content provider information;

transmitting the list to the drug interaction server, the doctor server, or the pharmacy server; and

receiving, in response to transmitting the list, information regarding adverse interactions between two or more of the drugs from the drug interaction server, the doctor server, or the pharmacy server.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify another drug for an additional person;

receiving input defining the other drug;

storing the input defining the other drug;

presenting a fourth user interface to permit the user to specify drug information for the other drug for the additional person;

receiving the drug information for the other drug, where the drug information for the other drug includes a dosage time and a dosage condition for the other drug;

storing the drug information for the other drug;

receiving an instruction to prepare a shared calendar including the drug and the other drug for the additional person along with the drug information for the drug and the other drug;

preparing the shared calendar;

receiving an instruction to display the shared calendar; and

providing a graphical user interface of the shared calendar that includes a graphical representation of the drug and the other drug, and the drug information associated with the dosage times for the drug and the other drug, and the dosage conditions for the drug and the other drug in a visual calendar format.

13. A method, comprising:

presenting, via a display associated with a device, an interactive input area in which a user can enter a portion of a drug name;

receiving, by a processor of the device, the portion of the drug name via the interactive input area;

presenting, via a first user interface, images of possible drugs based on the portion of the drug name;

receiving, from the user via the first user interface, a selected drug image from the images of possible drugs presented via the first user interface, where the user selects the selected drug image defining a drug;

storing, in a memory associated with the device, the selected drug image and the drug;

presenting, via the display associated with a device, a second user interface where drug information for the drug is inputted, and where the drug information includes dosage time and dosage condition;

receiving, via the second user interface, input defining the drug information;

storing, in the memory associated with a device, the input defining the drug information;

preparing a reminder associated with the drug based on the input defining the drug information;

receiving an instruction to display the reminder; and

providing, when the reminder is ready for display, a graphical user interface reminder comprising the selected drug image and the input defining the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

receiving input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

storing the input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

preparing a revised calendar based on whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the revised calendar, that includes a graphical representation of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled.

15. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

receiving input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

storing the input of whether the drug was taken, partially taken, delayed, missed, or cancelled;

preparing an additional reminder when the user specifies that the drug was partially taken or delayed; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the additional reminder, that includes a graphical representation of the selected drug image, the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition, and whether the drug was partially taken or delayed.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

receiving input that the drug was partially taken;

presenting a fourth user interface to permit the user to specify which drug was partially taken;

receiving input indicating which drug was partially taken;

storing the input of which drug was partially taken;

preparing an additional reminder associated with the input of which drug was partially taken;

providing a graphical user interface, of the additional reminder, that includes a graphical representation of the partially taken drug and the drug information including the dosage time for the partially taken drug and the dosage condition for the partially taken drug in a visual reminder format;

preparing a revised calendar based on the input indicating which drug was partially taken; and

providing a graphical user interface, of the revised calendar, that includes a graphical representation of the partially taken drug and the drug information including the dosage time for the partially taken drug and the dosage condition for the partially taken drug in a visual calendar format.

17. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

presenting a visual notification reminder comprising the graphical representation of the drug and the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition for the drug via the display associated with the device, or

presenting an audible notification reminder associated with the drug and the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition for the drug via a speaker associated with the device.

18. The method of claim 13, where receiving input defining the drug information for the drug further includes:

receiving, from a content provider, additional drug information including dosage time, dosage condition, and content provider information for the drug; and

where the providing the graphical user interface of the calendar further includes providing a graphical user interface of the calendar that includes a graphical representation of the content provider information for the drug in a visual calendar format, and where the content provider information includes drug interaction information from a drug interaction server, drug database information from a drug database server, medical information from a doctor server, or pharmacy drug information from a pharmacy server.

19. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

presenting a third user interface to permit the user to specify another drug for an additional person;

receiving input defining the other drug;

storing the input defining the other drug;

presenting a fourth user interface to permit the user to specify drug information for the other drug for the additional person;

receiving the drug information for the drug, where the drug information includes a dosage time and a dosage condition;

storing the drug information for the other drug;

receiving an instruction to prepare a shared calendar including the drug and the other drug for the additional person along with the drug information for the drug and the other drug;

preparing the shared calendar;

receiving an instruction to display the shared calendar; and

providing a graphical user interface of the shared calendar that includes a graphical representation of the drug and the other drug, and the drug information associated with the dosage times for the drug and the other drug, and the dosage conditions for the drug and the other drug in a visual calendar format.

20. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

receiving an instruction from the user of the device to prepare a calendar including the selected drug image and the drug information;

determining that the calendar is ready to display; and

providing a graphical user interface calendar comprising the selected drug image and a graphical representation of the drug information including the drug'"'"'s dosage time and dosage condition.

21. A computer-readable medium comprising:

a plurality of instructions which, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to;

present a user interface to permit a user to specify drugs for at least two people;

receive input defining the drugs;

store the input defining the drugs;

receive drug information for the drugs, where the drug information includes dosage times and dosage conditions;

store the drug information for the drugs;

prepare a calendar using the input defining the drugs and the drug information for the drugs;

receive an instruction to display the calendar;

provide a graphical user interface of the calendar that includes graphical representations of the drugs and the drug information including the dosage times and the dosage conditions in a shared visual calendar format presenting the drugs and the associated drug information for each of the at least two people;

prepare reminders associated with the drugs and the drug information for the drugs;

determine that one of the reminders is ready to display; and

provide, when the one of the reminder is ready for display, a graphical user interface reminder comprising a graphical representation of one of the drugs and the drug information associated with the one of the drugs, where the drug information includes the dosage time and the dosage condition.

22. The computer-readable medium of claim 21, where the plurality of instructions further cause the at least one processor to:

receive, from a content provider, additional drug information including input defining dosage times, dosage conditions, and content provider information for the drugs, where the content provider information includes drug interaction information from a drug interaction server, drug database information from a drug database server, medical information from a doctor server, or pharmacy drug information from a pharmacy server; and

additionally provide the graphical user interface of the calendar with a graphical representation of the content provider information for the drugs.

23. A system, comprising:

a device including at least one processor, where a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to;

present for display, a first user interface to permit a user to specify a drug, where the first user interface presents graphical images of drugs for selection by the user;

receive, from the user via the first user interface, a selection of a graphical image of the drug from the graphical images of drugs;

present for display, a second user interface to permit the user to input drug information for the drug, where the drug information includes;

a dosage time and a dosage condition;

receive, from the user via the second user interface, input defining the drug information;

prepare a calendar using the graphical image defining the drug and the drug information;

provide a graphical user interface of the calendar that includes the selection from the graphical images of drugs defining the drug and the input defining the drug information including the dosage time and the dosage condition, in a visual calendar format;

prepare a reminder associated with the drug; and

provide, when the reminder is ready for display, the reminder associated the drug.
