Abstract

In one embodiment, a mobile device automatically captures image frames by acquiring a real-time video sequence, selecting one or more frames from the real-time video sequence based on social network information and identity recognition, and storing the selected one or more frames in a local storage of the mobile device.

Claims

1. A method, by a computing device, comprising:

accessing a sequence of video frames;

analyzing frames of the sequence of video frames to identify one or more social network objects;

determining a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects; and

selecting one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the selecting one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames, further comprises:

presenting the selected one or more frames to a first user; and

in response to the first user'"'"'s indication, storing at least one of the one or more selected frames in a persistent storage.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the presenting the selected one or more frames to the first user, further comprises:

presenting to the first user in a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising a scrollable media wheel of one or more thumbnails corresponding to the selected one or more frames.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects, further comprises:

for each frame of the sequence of video frames, assigning a value based on a number of social network objects identified in the each frame.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects is further based on an affinity associated with each of the one or more identified social network objects.

6. A system comprising:

a memory;

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory storage medium storing computer-readable instructions operative, when executed, to cause the one or more processors to;

access a sequence of video frames;

analyze frames of the sequence of video frames to identify one or more social network objects;

determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects; and

select one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein to select one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames, further comprises instructions operable to cause the one or more processors to:

present the selected one or more frames to a first user; and

in response to the first user'"'"'s indication, store at least one of the one or more selected frames in a persistent storage.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein to present the selected one or more frames to the first user, further comprises instructions operable to cause the one or more processors to:

present to the first user in a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising a scrollable media wheel of one or more thumbnails corresponding to the selected one or more frames.

9. The system of claim 6, wherein to determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects, further comprises instructions operable to cause the one or more processors to:

for each frame of the sequence of video frames, assign a value based on a number of social network objects identified in the each frame.

10. The system of claim 6, wherein to determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects is further based on an affinity associated with each of the one or more identified social network objects.

11. One or more computer-readable tangible storage media embodying software operable when executed by one or more computing devices to:

access a sequence of video frames;

analyze frames of the sequence of video frames to identify one or more social network objects;

determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects; and

select one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames.

12. The media of claim 11, wherein to select one or more of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on respective values of the frames, further comprises software operable when executed by the one or more computing devices to:

present the selected one or more frames to a first user; and

in response to the first user'"'"'s indication, store at least one of the one or more selected frames in a persistent storage.

13. The media of claim 12, wherein to present the selected one or more frames to the first user, further comprises software operable when executed by the one or more computing devices to:

present to the first user in a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising a scrollable media wheel of one or more thumbnails corresponding to the selected one or more frames.

14. The media of claim 11, wherein to determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects, further comprises software operable when executed by the one or more computing devices to:

for each frame of the sequence of video frames, assign a value based on a number of social network objects identified in the each frame.

15. The media of claim 11, wherein to determine a value of the frames of the sequence of video frames based on the one or more identified social network objects is further based on an affinity associated with each of the one or more identified social network objects.
