Abstract

Systems and methods providing users with a rich web experience are disclosed. In one embodiment, a client and at least one server are in communication using a dual communication link. In another embodiment, a markup language based instant messaging application is disclosed. The instant messaging application may include group instant messaging. The instant messaging application may also provide group member persistence and message persistence at the server. In another embodiment, a card based web application is disclosed, where the card information and character may be shared with other users or within a group. The cards may also be configurable by users.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving an instant message from a user through a computer network;

displaying the instant message within an instant message window;

receiving a URL from the user through the computer network; and

displaying a file associated with the URL within the instant message window.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the URL link is not displayed in the instant message window.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the file comprises a plurality of files.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the file comprises a webpage.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising rendering the file associated with the URL.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the file comprises a media file.

7. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying code executable by a computing system, the code comprising:

program code that receives an instant message from a user through a computer network;

program code that receives a URL from the user through the computer network; and

program code that displays a file associated with the URL within the instant message window.

8. The computer program product according to claim 7, wherein the URL link is not displayed in the instant message window.

9. The computer program product according to claim 7, wherein the file comprises a plurality of files.

10. The computer program product according to claim 7, wherein the file comprises a webpage.

11. The computer program product according to claim 7, further comprising program code that renders the file associated with the URL.

12. The computer program product according to claim 7, wherein the file comprises a media file.

13. A computing system comprising:

a processor;

a database storing a dataset that includes a plurality of values representing features for a plurality of users accessing a network resource;

a network interface;

a user interface; and

a non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying program components that configure the computing system to perform steps comprising;

receiving an instant message from a user through the network interface;

displaying the instant message in an instant message window of the user interface;

receiving a URL from the user through the network interface; and

displaying a file associated with the URL within the instant message window.

14. The computing system according to claim 13, wherein the URL link is not displayed in the instant message window.

15. The computing system according to claim 13, wherein the file comprises a plurality of files.

16. The computing system according to claim 13, wherein the file comprises a webpage.

17. The computing system according to claim 13, further comprising rendering the file associated with the URL.

18. The computing system according to claim 13, wherein the file comprises a media file.
