Abstract

This invention relates to an advertisement machine which provides advertisements to a user searching for desired information within a data network. The machine receives, from a user, a search request including a search argument corresponding to the desired information and searches, based upon the received search argument, a first database having data network related information to generate search results. It also correlates the received search argument to a particular advertisement in a second database having advertisement related information. The search results together with the particular advertisement are provided by the machine to the user.

Claims

1. A method of providing an advertisement for viewing by a user, the method comprising:

receiving user interest data related to a user based at least on activity of the user at a first page provided by a first page provider;

providing the user interest data to an advertisement provider for correlation with at least one advertisement by the advertisement provider;

receiving the at least one advertisement correlated with the user interest data from the advertisement provider; and

providing the at least one advertisement for viewing by the user on a second page provided by a second page provider, the second page provider being different from the first page provider.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the at least one advertisement for viewing by the user on the second page comprises providing the second page, the second page comprising the at least one advertisement.

The method of claim 1, wherein providing the at least one advertisement for viewing by the user on the second page comprises providing a web page data file comprising executable code that, upon execution by a user device, causes presentation of the at least one advertisement on the second page on a display of the user device.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the user interest data comprises at least one search keyword.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first page comprises a search webpage.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the second page comprises a homepage sent to the user.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one advertisement is customized based on user preferences.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one advertisement is customized based on the user interest data.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the at least one advertisement is customized by at least one of aurally enhancing the at least one advertisement, visually enhancing the at least one advertisement, textually enhancing the at least one advertisement, anecdotally enhancing the at least one advertisement, and logically enhancing the at least one advertisement.
