Abstract

A wireless power transmission method of a wireless power transmitter for transmitting power to a wireless power receiver according to the embodiment includes transmitting a connection signal for identifying the wireless power receiver, identifying the wireless power receiver by receiving a response signal to the connection signal from the wireless power receiver, negotiating a power transmission condition with the identified wireless power receiver and transmitting the power to the identified wireless power receiver according to the negotiated power transmission condition.

Claims

1. A wireless power transmission method of a wireless power transmitter for transmitting power to a wireless power receiver, the wireless power transmission method comprising:

transmitting a connection signal for identifying the wireless power receiver;

identifying the wireless power receiver by receiving a response signal to the connection signal from the wireless power receiver;

negotiating a power transmission condition with the identified wireless power receiver; and

transmitting the power to the identified wireless power receiver according to the negotiated power transmission condition.

2. The wireless power transmission method of claim 1, wherein the negotiating of the power transmission condition comprises:

transmitting state information of the wireless power transmitter to the identified wireless power receiver,

allowing the identified wireless power receiver to determine specific state information based on the state information of the wireless power transmitter, and

receiving the determined specific state information from the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the transmitting of the power to the identified wireless power receiver comprises;

transmitting the power corresponding to the specific state information to the identified wireless power receiver.

3. The wireless power transmission method of claim 2, wherein the transmitting state information of the wireless power transmitter to the identified wireless power receiver comprises:

transmitting information about an available amount of the power to the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the allowing the identified wireless power receiver to determine specific state information based on the state information of the wireless power transmitter comprises;

allowing the identified wireless power receiver to determine a demanded amount of the power within a range of the available amount of the power,

wherein the receiving of the determined specific state information comprises;

receiving information about the demanded amount of the power from the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the transmitting of the power to the identified wireless power receiver comprises;

transmitting the power corresponding to the demanded amount of the power to the identified wireless power receiver.

4. The wireless power transmission method of claim 2, wherein the transmitting state information of the wireless power transmitter to the identified wireless power receiver comprises:

transmitting information about a priority of power transmission with respect to the identified wireless power receiver and other plural wireless power receivers to the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the allowing the identified wireless power receiver to determine specific state information based on the state information of the wireless power transmitter comprises;

allowing the identified wireless power receiver to determine whether the identified wireless power receiver accepts the priority determined based on the information about the priority,

wherein the receiving of the determined specific state information comprises;

receiving a signal representing an acceptance of the priority from the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the transmitting of the power to the identified wireless power receiver comprises;

transmitting the power to the identified wireless power receiver according to the priority.

5. The wireless power transmission method of claim 1, wherein the negotiating of the power transmission condition comprises:

transmitting a state list of a plurality of wireless power transmitters to the identified wireless power receiver to allow the identified wireless power receiver to select at least one of the wireless power transmitters, and

receiving selection information corresponding to the selection of the wireless power transmitters from the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the transmitting of the power to the identified wireless power receiver comprises;

transmitting the power from the selected at least one wireless power transmitter to the identified wireless power receiver.

6. The wireless power transmission method of claim 5, wherein the state list comprises state information of the wireless power transmitters, and

the state information comprises at least one of information about a maximum amount of the power to be supplied from each wireless power transmitter, a number of wireless power receivers receiving the power from each wireless power transmitter, a identification of each wireless power transmitter and an amount of available power of each wireless power transmitter.

7. The wireless power transmission method of claim 1, wherein the negotiating of the power transmission condition comprises:

receiving a demanded amount of power of the identified wireless power receiver, and

checking whether if the demanded amount of power is within a range of an available amount of power of the wireless power transmitter, and

wherein the transmitting of the power to the identified wireless power receiver comprises;

transmitting the power corresponding to the demanded amount of power of the identified wireless power receiver if the demanded amount of power is within a range of an available amount of power of the wireless power transmitter.

8. The wireless power transmission method of claim 1, further comprising transmitting the connection signal to another wireless power receiver when the response signal is not received in the wireless power transmitter.

9. The wireless power transmission method of claim 1, further comprising returning to the negotiating of the power transmission condition when a state of the wireless power transmitter is changed.

The wireless power transmission method of claim 9, wherein the change of the state of the wireless power transmitter comprises a change of a maximum amount of power to be supplied from the wireless power transmitter or a change of a number of the wireless power receivers that receive the power from the wireless power transmitter.

11. A wireless power reception method of a wireless power receiver for receiving power from a wireless power transmitter, the wireless power reception method comprising:

receiving a connection signal for identifying the wireless power receiver;

transmitting a response signal to the connection signal to the wireless power transmitter;

negotiating a power transmission condition with the wireless transmitter; and

receiving the power from the wireless power transmitter according to the negotiated power transmission condition.

12. The wireless power reception method of claim 11, wherein the negotiating of the power transmission condition comprises:

receiving state information of the wireless power transmitter,

determining specific state information based on the state information of the wireless power transmitter, and

transmitting the determined specific state information to the wireless power transmitter, and

wherein the receiving of the power from the wireless power transmitter comprises;

receiving the power corresponding to the determined specific state information from the wireless power transmitter.

13. The wireless power reception method of claim 11, wherein the negotiating of the power transmission condition comprises:

receiving a state list of a plurality of wireless power transmitters to select at least one of the wireless power transmitters; and

transmitting selection information corresponding to the selection of the wireless power transmitters to the wireless power transmitter, and

wherein the receiving of the power from the wireless power transmitter comprises;

receiving the power from the selected at least one wireless power transmitter.

14. A wireless power transmitter for transmitting power to a wireless power receiver, the wireless power transmitter comprising:

a transmitting unit to transmit a connection signal for identifying the wireless power receiver;

an identifying unit to identify the wireless power receiver by receiving a response signal to the connection signal; and

a negotiating unit to negotiate a power transmission condition with the identified wireless power receiver,

wherein the wireless power transmitter transmits the power to the identified wireless power receiver according to the negotiated power transmission condition.

15. The wireless power transmitter of claim 14, wherein the negotiating unit transmits state information of the wireless power transmitter to the identified wireless power receiver to allow the identified wireless power receiver to determine specific state information based on the state information of the wireless power transmitter and receives the determined specific state information from the identified wireless power receiver, and

the wireless power transmitter transmits the power corresponding to the specific state information to the identified wireless power receiver.

16. The wireless power transmitter of claim 14, wherein the negotiating unit receives state information of the identified wireless power receiver to determine specific state information based on the state information of the identified power receiver, and

the wireless power transmitter transmits the power corresponding to the specific state information to the identified wireless power receiver.

17. The wireless power transmitter of claim 16, wherein the state information of the identified wireless power receiver comprises information about a present amount of change or a change of charge in the identified wireless power receiver.

18. The wireless power transmitter of claim 14, wherein the negotiating unit negotiates with the identified wireless power receiver through an in-band communication or an out-of-band communication.

19. The wireless power transmitter of claim 14, wherein the wireless power transmitter transmits the power to the identified wireless power receiver using electromagnetic induction or resonance.

20. A wireless power receiver for receiving power from a wireless power transmitter, the wireless power receiver comprising:

a receiving unit to receive a connection signal for identifying the wireless power receiver;

a transmitting unit to transmit a response signal to the connection signal to the wireless power transmitter; and

a negotiating unit to negotiate a power transmission condition with the wireless transmitter,

wherein the wireless power receiver receives the power from the wireless power transmitter according to the negotiated power transmission condition.
