Abstract

Systems and methods for generating location-based retail pricing options are discussed herein. In an example, a method for generating location-based retail pricing options includes receiving, over a network from a user, a pricing request. The pricing request includes information identifying the user, a merchant, and an intended purchase. In this example, the method further includes determining a pricing option associated with the merchant and the intended purchase, and transmitting the pricing option to the user. The method still further includes processing a purchase transaction, associated with the user, for the intended purchase based on the pricing option.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, over a network from a user, a pricing request, the pricing request including information identifying the user, a merchant, and an intended purchase;

determining a pricing option associated with the merchant and the intended purchase;

transmitting the pricing option to the user; and

processing a purchase transaction, associated with the user, for the intended purchase based on the pricing option.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the received information further includes a current location associated with the user.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the determining the pricing option includes associating the pricing option with the merchant, the intended purchase, and the current location.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein,

the determining the pricing option includes determining a plurality of pricing options associated with the merchant and the intended purchase;

and

the transmitting the pricing option to the user includes transmitting the plurality of pricing options.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the processing the purchase transaction includes:

receiving a selection of one of the plurality of pricing options; and

applying a price associated with the selection to the purchase transaction.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the pricing option includes:

accessing profile data associated with the user; and

determining the pricing option based on the merchant, the profile data associated with the user, and the intended purchase.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the profile data associated with the user includes at least one of:

membership data;

historical purchase data;

virtual wallet data;

demographic data; and

financial data.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the processing the purchase transaction includes accessing a source of funds associated with the user.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the accessing the source of funds includes posting a debit against a stored value.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, over the network, a virtual wallet registration associated with the user.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the determining the pricing option includes deriving the pricing option based on data maintained within the virtual wallet.

12. A computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, executed by a machine, cause the machine to:

transmit location information associated with the machine;

receive at least one pricing option for an intended purchase based on the location information; and

trigger a purchase transaction based on a selection of the at least one pricing option.

13. An apparatus comprising:

an interface, configured to,

receive, over a network from a user, a pricing request, the pricing request including information identifying the user, a merchant, and an intended purchase; and

one or more processors, configured to,

determine a pricing option associated with the merchant and the intended purchase, and

process a purchase transaction, associated with the user, for the intended purchase based on the pricing option.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein,

the received information further includes a current location associated with the user, and

the interface is further configured to transmit the pricing option to the user.

15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processor is further configured to:

access profile data associated with the user; and

determine the pricing option based on the merchant, the profile data associated with the user, and the intended purchase.

16. A machine-readable storage medium containing instructions that, when executed by a networked system, cause the networked system to:

receive a pricing request, the pricing request including information identifying a user, a merchant, and an intended purchase;

determine a pricing option associated with the merchant and the intended purchase;

transmit the pricing option to the user; and

process a purchase transaction, associated with the user, for the intended purchase based on the pricing option.

17. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the instructions that cause the networked system to receive information cause the networked system to retrieve a current location associated with the user.

18. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the instructions that cause the networked system to determine the pricing option include instructions causing the networked system to associate the pricing option with the merchant, the intended purchase, and the current location.

19. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein,

the instructions that cause the networked system to determine the pricing option include instructions causing the networked system to determine a plurality of pricing options, and

the instructions that cause the networked system to process the purchase transaction include instructions causing the networked system to receive, from the user, a selection of one of the plurality of pricing options.

20. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the instructions that cause the networked system to determine the pricing option include instructions causing the networked system to access profile data associated with the user and to determine the pricing option based on the merchant, the profile date associated with the user, and the intended purchase.
